"The Mission of St. James Episcopal Church, a central city church, is to welcome all people into the presence of Christ, and to serve in his name.

	The people who are St. James, no matter what race, orientation, or spiritual age, have sought to make Christ present to others through worship and music, service, and mutual caring for over one and a half centuries. The Ministry of Music at St. James Episcopal Church seeks to reflect the mysteries of our faith through creative interpretation of the Church's musical literature.
	The Ministry of Music at St. James is centered around the Sunday morning services in which organ, choir, soloists and instrumentalists provide musical and liturgical leadership for the worship of God and the spiritual edification of God's people gathered at St. James. The music ministry also offers regular organ recitals and occasional services of Evensong.
	The choir sings regularly from September and into June and a few times into the summer. The choir's repertoire includes music from the Middle Ages to our present time including composers such as Josquin Des Prez, Schutz, Palestrina, Tallis, Bach, Handel, Salieri, Faure, Barber, and Harbison.

Making Christ present is our continuing mandate and mission.
