Arlington United Methodist Church - Arlington, Virginia

The history of Arlington United Methodist Church (AUMC) is a rich and faithful one that spans nearly 150 years. We have always been a people committed to serving Jesus – passionate about sharing the good news of the Gospel and willing to make personal sacrifices so that our mission might be accomplished.

The worship experience is a vital part of who we are as a community of faith. We believe God uses worship as one of the primary ways to encourage and equip us in our daily walk with Christ. You will find many folks who share that Sunday is the best day of their week because of worship!

The Sunday Traditional Service features both traditional and modern elements of worship. Traditional hymns and music are offered by the different music ministries plus a variety of modern art forms such as drama, dance, and visuals are engaged to proclaim the message. This service is designed for those who enjoy the traditional setting of a sanctuary but are looking for a less formal worship experience.

You will feel the spirit at the West African Praise Service when African drums lead our praise singing in the rhythm and languages of Africa. Every service includes a time for joys and concerns including testimonies and prayers. Members of the church wear traditional African dress as well as modern clothes.

At the heart of our Faith Renaissance Worship Gatherings is a diverse community of friends seeking to grow in their faith. Because authentic community is so important, you will notice that the worship space feels a bit like a cafe -- where conversation can happen easily with one another. Music is eclectic. Arts, creativity, and imagination woven throughout. Time for prayer and silent reflection are vital life lines to the community.

Preaching is conversational and all are invited to share their thoughts, questions, doubts and insights as the community grows together spiritually. Not everyone who participates with FR is a Christian -- and that's okay. Everyone is welcome regardless of where you are in the journey of life

Latino Contemporary Service in our Fellowship Hall. Child care in the Nursery is provided during all worship services.

The Arlington United Methodist Church Orchestra was founded in 1965 by William Randolph “Randy” Sharp. The Orchestra's purpose is to fulfill the admonition found in the Bible at Ephesians 5:19-20: “speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”.

The Orchestra enhances the 11am Worship service at Arlington United Methodist Church on the third Sunday of the month from September through June.

Arlington UMC is truly a place where people from every economic background, nationality, and race are welcomed as a vital part of our community. It is our heartfelt desire to make you feel welcome too wherever you choose to plug in!
