We are reminded that the mission of St. Luke's United Methodist Church is to be “Growing in Christ” and “Making a Difference.” This occurs as we express the Gospel of Jesus Christ in such a way that all people have the opportunity to hear, experience and respond to that Gospel in the midst of a community of faith.
From that small beginning to today, St. Luke's membership has grown and its ministry now extends to Midland and the world. Extensive additions to the building made possible by the acquisition of more property, improved office facilities, and an outstanding music center.St. Luke's Music Ministry is a comprehensive program for children, youth, and adults. Choirs are offered for all ages beginning with children three years of age to adults. Handbells are offered to all from second grade to adults. An instrumental ensemble is offered for youth and adults.
Chancel Choir at St. Luke's is adults of all ages. They provide music for the 10:50 worship services. The Chancel Choir is in concert several times during the year. During the 2005-2006 season, the Choir performed a program of "Spirituals, Southern Melodies, and Gospel Music. During Advent the Choir sang the music of Daniel Pinkham, Lloyd Pfautsch and Camille St. Saens.
The Sanctuary Organ was installed by the Schantz Organ Company in January and February of 1999. The organ has 42 ranks in the Chancel and 9 ranks in the Antiphonal. At the direction of the Organ Committee, Schantz incorporated 5 ranks of pipes from the 1967 Tellers Organ into the new instrument.
