First Baptist Church is located in the downtown section of Abilene and, as the name implies, was the first Baptist church organized just shortly after Abilene was founded as a town. The church has grown since that time, but has also stayed in touch with the community that it helped to start.

First Baptist Church is a singing people. This is evidenced by the many choirs, ensembles, and soloists who are involved in making music to God. There are choirs for four-year-olds through senior adults.
