The Music Ministry at First Church strives with every note to elevate the spirit of every person.

A vibrant church opens many avenues for worshippers to find their connection to God. The spoken word, prayer, and music are three of the most important ways that members worship as a community of faith. No matter what your level of musical experience, you're sure to find a place in the Music Ministry at First UMC.

Music is a vital part of the worship experience, reaching the inner heart with tones as prayer with silent words. To meet the needs of every member and visitor, many different styles and types of music are offered.

The adult, youth and children vocal choirs and handbell ensembles are frequently heard. Special music is also presented by members of our congregation as well as talented musicians from the local area. Also, special music events are presented throughout the year, accenting significant occasions in the life of the church.

MUSIC MINISTRY UNVEILS PLANS FOR REFURBISHED ORGAN

Music plays an important role in our worship services each week, and our sanctuary has been blessed with twenty-eight wonderful years of lovely organ music with our 1979 Moeller pipe organ. Damaged by Hurricane Hugo in 1989 and susceptible to damaging salt breezes off the ocean, it has led us through many services.

The Music Ministry is pleased to announce that Cornel Zimmer Organ Builders of Denver, NC has been contracted to completely re-do the organ. The new instrument will be an amazing digital/pipe organ hybrid utilizing the best sounds of the Moeller.
