East Liberty Presbyterian Church - Pittsburgh, PA

Our Church was built in the style of the Gothic cathedrals of Europe. This style emerged in the twelfth century, mainly under the influence of the Cistercian Order and Abbot Suger of St. Denis, Paris. The Gothic style is characterized by the use of pointed arches, the emphasis on light mediated through colored stained glass, and the cruciform floor plan.

"Our Mission as East Liberty Presbyterian Church is to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength and our neighbor as ourselves."

Some of our services:

Journey Worship
In the Music Room, third floor. There will be regular opportunities for shared prayer, testimonies of faith, and encountering God’s word in a fresh, compelling way. The blending of classical and contemporary, Gospel songs and hymns, introspective worship and interactive communal praise will ideally reflect the diverse, creative spirit that is already at the heart of ELPC. The service is led by a member of the ELPC pastoral staff.

Sanctuary Worship
In the Sanctuary, first floor, music begins at 10:45 am. ELPC’s largest, more traditional worship service offering thought-provoking sermons, and the music of our Chancel Choir and organ to reinforce the spirit of praise and reverence. Like many of the great cathedrals of Europe, the compelling power and beauty of our historic, gothic-style Sanctuary enhances the spiritual experience.

Children, included in all of our services, are invited to the Chancel steps to hear their own message.

Good Samaritan Worship
An informal service of music, prayer and personal witness. Small Dining Room.

The arts play a central role in the worship and mission of East Liberty Presbyterian Church (ELPC). To this end, the Worship, Music & the Arts (WMA) Ministry of ELPC constantly seeks to provide and support creative pathways to God.
