We are a downtown United Methodist Church, with members who come together from all across Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in order to proclaim that Jesus is Lord. We welcome all who come to worship the risen Christ, so come join with us to create a rich time of worship on Sunday mornings. Music, service, worship, learning, volunteering - are all ways in which First Church people become involved and you can too.

Sanctuary Worship at FUMC is designed to bring the worshiper closer to the Glory of God through the United Methodist tradition of singing familiar and new hymns, reading of scriptures, prayer, and presentations to the Glory of God by a variety of choirs, organ and handbells.

Our contemporary worship service relies on the arts to glorify God in new and unique ways. Music, art, drama, and video presentation are used together to create a worship experience that we were
made for.

The Christian Street Band was formed more than 10 years ago when a small group began to explore new ways to worship God using more contemporary models. Today, under the direction of Donna Comp, the team is comprised of talented instrumentalists and vocalists who share a vision of serving God and the congregation by “giving back” the amazing gift of music.

The Chancel Choir sings anthems for most 10:45 services, September through May and also sings for 8:15 services on select festival services. They generally prepare two major works each season, which are generally presented in worship services. The repertoire of the Chancel Choir is highly varied ranging from "classical" music to spirituals. Major works usually include full orchestra accompaniment.

The Chapel Choir is made up of singers from grades 7 through 12. The choir sings for 8:15 and 10:45 services, once a month, from September through May.

The Carol Choir is made up of singers from grades 3 through 6. The choir sings at the Traditional services once a month and the Contemporary service three times a year, from September through May.

The Cherub Choir is made up of singers age 4 or 5 through grade 2. The choir sings for both the Traditional and Contemporary services on special Sundays September through May.

The Wesley Handbell Choir is open to ringers from high school through adult. The choir rings for 8:15 and 10:45 services once a month from September through May.
