Why We Worship

As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, worship is our greatest calling and highest expression of faith toward God. This is why "passionate worship" is one of our twelve heart standards at Cornerstone Church.

We believe God's word gives us clear instructions in how to worship Him. Jesus says in John 4:23-24, "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth."

Wholehearted worship includes:

1. Singing - “O come let us sing unto the Lord...” Psalm 95:1

2. Lifting up Hands - “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary...” Psalm 134:2

3. Clapping - “O clap your hands all you people, shout unto God with the voice of triumph,” Psalm 47:1

4. Dancing - ”Let them praise His namd in the dance...” Psalm 149:3

5. Shouting - “Let them shout for joy and be glad...” Psalm 35:27

6. Using Musical Instruments - “Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: Praise Him with the lure and harp! Praise Him with the timbrel (tambourine) and dance. Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes! Praise Him with the loud cymbals. Praise Him with clashing cymbals.” Psalm 150:3-5
