First Christian Church of Edmond is blessed with a rich diversity of educational, socio-economic and spiritual backgrounds. Our fellowship is much like a caring family - a family that values community, informality, spontaneity, freedom of expression and fun!
Our music program consists of 14 different ensembles and participants range in age from 3 years to over 90. Whether you enjoy familiar hymns accompanied by the organ, modern songs of praise accompanied by a band or the sounds of a traditional church choir, we have a worship option that is sure to fit your preference.
Our music ministry for adults provides a variety of opportunities. Our most visible ensembles are our Praise Band and Chancel Choir. The Praise Band leads worship at every 9:00 a.m. sanctuary service, while the Chancel Choir helps lead worship at the 11:00 a.m. service. The choir does take a summer break from the first of June to mid-August.
We also have an active adult bell choir, the Chancel Ringers, that participates regularly in worship. Because we have a wide variety of musical interests, we offer 2 small vocal ensembles. Emerging Spirits focuses on a more gospel style of music, while our Chancel Singers focuses on contemporary and classical arrangements of pieces designed for a smaller vocal ensemble.
We also have a small Orchestra.
Music for our youth happens in conjunction with Wednesday night worship. Our youth begin their Wednesday evening by sharing a meal, and then move into worship. The first portion of this worship time is dedicated to music. The youth are taught new songs and practice familiar ones while accompanied by the praise band. Mixtures of traditional and modern Christian songs are used, and many of the songs are chosen by the youth. We also offer a Youth Bell Choir. Our Youth ensemble participates regularly in all our worship services.
We offer 3 choirs and 2 instrumental ensembles for our Children's Music.
