The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist is both the Mother Church of the Diocese of Cleveland, and a vibrant parish community in the heart of the city.

Since 1848, this historic Cathedral church in the middle of Cleveland’s civic center has served Catholics and the wider community of Cleveland as a prayerful oasis and spiritual home. As the Bishop’s Church, the Cathedral is the “Mother Church” for over 800,000 Catholics in the Diocese of Cleveland. It is also a vibrant, growing parish community, praising God and serving him in the parish neighborhood.

The Cathedral Choir sings at the 10:30 am & 12:15 pm Sunday liturgies from October through June. The Choir is a semi-professional ensemble numbering approximately 25 singers. Aside from the requisite liturgical psalms, hymns and canticles, the choir repertoire is primarily a cappella literature, with an emphasis on music of the Renaissance.

In May of 2008 the Cathedral Choir won 1st place in the WCLV/UCC Jubilation Choir Competition, a Northeast Ohio regional church choir competition. The Choir has recorded just recorded it's 6th CD.
