Gethsemane Episcopal Church - Fargo, ND

Gethsemane is a place where new people easily come through the door, make friends, and worship God.  Having said that we also want everyone in the church (members and non-members alike) to have many opportunities to go deeper in their faith.  We want to be soft around the edges and solid at the core.

Spirit Song

SpiritSong is the contemporary music group that leads the music for the 9 a.m. service.  Membership in the group is open to anyone who plays a musical instrument or sings.  The musicians range in age from junior high-age to adults, and members play a variety of instruments including piano, drums, guitar, tambourine/other percussion instruments, cello, flute, clarinet and violin.  Most of our musical selections are from the Gather songbook. The group practices on Wednesday evenings for an hour.  For more information or to become a member, please leave a message for Julie Garden-Robinson, SpiritSong Coordinator, at the Cathedral.

Cathedral Choir

Under the direction of organist/choirmaster Dr. Mark Ring, the Cathedral’s music in worship celebrates the riches of the Anglican tradition and is led by the Cathedral Choir, a 16-voice ensemble of both volunteer and professional singers.  Annual musical services include a Choral Requiem on All Saints Sunday in the autumn and a Choral Mass in the spring, both accompanied by orchestra. Each December the Choir presents the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, modeled upon the traditional service from Cambridge University.

Cathedral Organ

The Cathedral Organ was built by Robert Sipe of Dallas, Texas, and installed during the summer/fall of 2000.  It is a three-manual instrument of 34 ranks, using electric slider action, with two enclosed divisions.  Designed in American Classic style, it is particularly suited to play and accompany an Anglican cathedral service, while being versatile for a wide range of solo literature.  Its voicing is notable for both warmth and clarity.

The organ is encased, with speaking facade pipes from the 16' and 8' Great and Pedal Open Diapasons, along with the horizontal Festival Trumpet.
