We are a mosaic of God's people. We are a colorful mosaic of persons, with many talents, working together in a common mission. The Tiffany mosaic of the Lord’s Supper in our chancel is our symbol.

We are young, old, married, gay, single, newcomers, and veterans. We were born in America, Canada, the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and Asia. Many live in the city, others in suburbs and towns.

The Choral Scholar Program and the Christ Church Music Through a long tradition of quality music making, the Christ Church Choir continues to foster excellence in music through a broad variety of musical styles. Our choral repertoire includes Gregorian Chant, Anglican Chant, and motets from the Renaissance to the 21st century.

Our choral style emphasizes clarity of pitch, pureness of tuning, pureness and evenness of tone and an emphasis on improvisation and musical experimentation. This choir leads and supports the congregation in their worship. Through hymns, descants, psalms, and anthems, this choir also provides liturgical enhancement that goes beyond the normal abilities of the congregation. Apprentice Program augment and enhance this choir.

The Christ Church Schola Cantorum
The Christ Church Schola Cantorum was founded in 1997 by its director Stephen Kennedy for the purpose of performing the weekly Office of Compline at Christ Church (Episcopal) in Downtown Rochester on Sunday evenings at 9:00pm (October through April). The Schola Cantorum is recognized nationally as a leading ensemble for the performance of early sacred choral music and chant, contemporary music, and choral improvisation. The Scholas recordings are available through GOTHIC Records, and the groups recording of music of David Conte will be released this year on the ARSIS label. Schola recordings have been broadcast nationally on Minnesota Public Radio and Richard Gladwells With Heart and Voice. The group has performed regularly for local festivals and concert series such as Eastmans annual EROI Festival, the Rochester Early Music Festival, Music at St. Annes series, Elmira College Concerts, and others.

Handbells
Our Handbell choir “rings” for selected services throughout the year.

Youth Orchestra
Children in grades 5-12 perform 3-4 times a year at the 11 a.m. Sunday service to enhance and integrate all who worship at Christ Church.

Compline
Compline at Christ Church is sung by the Christ Church Schola Cantorum every Sunday at 9:00PM from October through April.

Candlelight Concerts precede Compline at 8:30pm each first Sunday of each month from October through April. Concerts given by fine local musicians are underwritten by contributions from “Friends of Music”.
