Welcome to a very musical parish! The Church of the Epiphany enjoys a well-deserved reputation--in New York City and beyond--as a home for excellent, engaging music, both in our worship services and in our concert offerings. Our programming, while rooted in the Anglican tradition, is original and eclectic, and features our organ and piano, choir and Quartet, as well as outside groups of distinction.

Sundays at 8:30 A.M. Rite I Eucharist

Sundays at 11 A.M. Rite II Eucharist with Choir and Organ.

First and Third Sundays at 6:00 P.M.:
An alternative worship experience for adults, newcomers, and anyone searching for God. Our choir, Sanctuary, fills our church with blues, funk, and world music.

Second and Fourth Sundays at 6:00 P.M.:
A contemporary language Eucharist, accompanied by piano.

The severely beautiful Norman architecture of the nave makes for an excellent acoustic, and the parish values music highly. Our choir comprises both volunteer and professional singers and delights in a wide variety of music. Our 50 rank, 3-manual Aeolian-Skinner Organ, opus 1412, dates to 1963 and is housed in the chancel tower. The present instrument still retains the Pedal Bourdon and the Dulciana and Unda Maris stops from the three-manual 1916 Steere organ that preceded it. Built under the tonal supervision of Joseph Whiteford, in dialogue with John Cartwright, Organist and Choirmaster from 1958 to 1987, the Epiphany organ is a masterpiece of historic significance. Elegantly and clearly voiced, it works very well for music of widely different styles.

Our piano, a Mason and Hamlin model AA, has recently been lovingly restored under the supervision of Tali Mahanoor and is a beautiful instrument, particularly for interpretation of Romantic repertoire.

Isaac Everett, our artist-in-residence and creative force behind Sanctuary, has a new CD, Rotation, available from the parish office for $15 plus shipping. This CD follows the cycle of the Christian Calendar and includes everything from plainsong to Isaac’s own music
