The Cathedral of All Saints was the first Episcopal cathedral in America to be conceived and built on the English model of church, hospital, convent and school.

When the Cathedral of All Saints was founded in 1872, serious thought was given to its music program, and the Choir of Men and Boys was soon established. Today, there are about 20 such choirs remaining in the United States.

The Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys is the oldest Episcopal cathedral choir in America and recently celebrated its one-hundred and twenty-fifth anniversary with a concert held in the cathedral.

The Choir of Men and Boys is well known for its musical excellence, having toured throughout the eastern United States and England. The choir has performed concerts with several choruses and orchestras in the Northeast, and has also released a number of CDs. The Choir of Men and Boys sings the principal services at the Cathedral during the choral season, which runs from Labor Day until early-June. The Choir’s repertoire consists of sacred music written over the past six centuries. Performing works by great composers such as Bach, Handel, Durufle, and Mozart, can be some of the most rewarding and memorable experiences in the life of a chorister.

The pipe organ of the Cathedral of All Saints has been considered by many to be among the finest in the Northeast. In addition to its primary use in leading the Cathedral's services and accompanying the choir, it has served as an important recital instrument.
