We are a congregation of approximately 800 individuals, representing all ages and walks of life. We welcome new people and have often heard visitors say "what a warm and friendly congregation" we are. First Church is about people worshiping and serving God among our members, in our community and in our world.Worship:
8:00 A.M. Worship Service - This worship service begins with a time of casual fellowship and quiet meditation. It is a more informal service than the 10:00 hour -- without music -- but with exactly the same proclamation of the word (scripture and sermon) as the second service. What makes this service unique is the intimate setting for Holy Communion: following the sermon we gather in a circle around the communion table as a group -- like family at the dinner table but without the chairs!
10:00 A. M.- This is a traditional United Methodist service of worship -- complete with choral or solo music and hymns sung by the congregation. During the summer months we add a time at the beginning of worship for members of the congregation to choose their favorite hymns that are then sung by everyone.
Music Ministries:
Chancel Choir
Sings weekly during the “school year” at 10:00 a.m. worship. The fellowship found among its members is very special. These people love each other and love to sing!
First Ringers Handbell Choir
This is an intergenerational group filled with good musicians who love bells, and it shows. They play monthly during worship and are a wonderful addition! You can watch a video of the hand bell choir performing on Sunday morning from the Music Program section of our web site.
Joyful Noise Choir
Children of all ages. They sing at the 10:00 worship service several times a month. You can watch a short movie of Joyful Noise from our web site.
