First Presbyterian Church

Music

Music has always held a special place in the life of First Presbyterian Church.

The Chancel Choir sings almost every Sunday from September through May. It is open to all interested participants high school age through adult.

The Gloria Dei Bells choir is for high school students through adults. They usually play on the first Sunday of each month. They also participate in the community-wide holiday bell concert in December.

Bells of Praise is our youth bell choir. It is for students in grades 3 to 8 or for beginning bell players of any age.

As Presbyterians we believe in the sovereignty of God and that salvation is God’s gift. The motivation for worship and action is gratitude for God’s grace shown in Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Word of God. That word is revealed to us through the Bible which sends us into the world to bring the good news to all people.

We welcome all to participate in our programs and worship. We look forward to sharing the discipleship of Jesus Christ with you soon.

First Presbyterian Church was organized in 1873 as the second oldest congregation in the city of Kearney. After many years "downtown",the church built a new building and moved to its present location at 4511 6th Avenue in 1996. We have 450 members and welcome visitors, friends, and college students enthusiastically. Sunday Church School for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m. and worship is at 10:30 a.m. with a coffee fellowship following. You can find out about other programs of the church by clicking the Programs button.
