Saint Anthony Parish - Missoula, MT
St. Anthony Parish is a welcoming Catholic Community reaching out to all who come to share its celebration of God’s love and Christ’s teachings. Bishop John P. Carroll established the Parish south of the Clark Fork River in 1921, in Missoula, Montana, and appointed Fr. John O’ Kennedy as the founding Pastor.
In 1949 an addition was built onto the 1921 structure and became the new church. Later this space became a gymnasium for the school and was then turned into classrooms. The current St. Anthony’s church was completed in time to celebrate Mass on Christmas Day in 1963. The current church structure was fully completed and dedicated in 1964 containing some truly marvelous architectural features and artwork from around the world that happily found their way to Missoula.
This beautiful combination of local, and world art and music, provide a distinct and relaxing environment adding to the vibrancy of the church services and celebration of the liturgy.
Music Ministry
The Music Ministry at St. Anthony Parish has been a vital and exceptional part of our Parish community for over a quarter of a century. The music is a beautiful blend of traditional, contemporary and jazz arrangements. The liturgical music includes a collection of the best compositions from a variety of national sources, along with many compositions by our local musicians.Music Ministers are part of all weekend celebrations, holy day celebrations and other special liturgy celebrations. The group includes choir members, keyboard, organ, guitars, bass, drums, harmonica, clarinet and various other solo instruments. The group includes both professional and non-professional musicians.
The mission of the parish continues to be “a welcoming place where people with different personal experiences bring together their gifts and talents to support and care for one another and to pass on the teachings of Jesus.”
