Our congregation is diverse; people at Third Baptist are part of the fabric of the St. Louis region. We are bound together by our love and commitment to Jesus Christ. Our programs and ministries are ever growing and improving, preparing us to go out in service to the community and the world.
We're in the heart of Grand Center, the exciting arts, entertainment, and education district. Nearby is the Loft District that attracts residents from young singles to retirees.
Third Baptist Church has a long history of excellence in church music, and that tradition continues. The Chancel Choir leads our worship services nearly every Sunday, year-round; they are often augmented by guest soloists and instrumentalists, in addition to organ and piano, creating a moving and inspirational worship experience. Special services are presented on Good Friday and Christmas Eve, and the choir performs with larger orchestral ensembles on Easter and Christmas.
The Chancel Choir sings at least one anthem a week. Their repertoire includes a wide range of musical styles, from classical to contemporary gospel and praise music.
Our Children's Choir occasionally sing in Sunday morning worship.
Our Handbell Choir rings periodically in our services and special services.
Concerts and Special Services
Third Baptist Church is a fabulous concert venue! With three excellent performance spaces (the Sanctuary, Memorial Chapel and the stage in Johnson Hall), we are able to host to a wide range of concerts, recitals and events; performers in the recent past have included Kim Massie, Marianne Kesler, Ptah Williams, the Ozarka Trio with Molly Carr, Bach to the Future, the St. Louis Chamber Chorus, and the King's Heralds Quartet, to name a few.
Additionally, TBC organist Brent Johnson periodically performs recitals of classical organ literature, and our Good Friday and Christmas Eve services are full of a wide variety of music, featuring the chancel choir, vocal soloists, ensembles and instrumentalists.
