OUR CHOIRS
St. Peter’s is blessed to have two adult choirs.The Chorale leads music at the 8:30 a.m. Mass twice a month. Music ranges from classical, Latin and traditional to contemporary in style.
The Choir leads music at the 10:00 a.m. Mass twice a month. Music ranges from traditional to contemporary in style and the pace is a little slower.
Spirit Alive is an ensemble of musicians and choir. They lead music once a month, rotating between various Mass times. The music is a range of traditional to contemporary praise in style.
The Hallelujah Singers are a small ensemble that leads music at various Masses twice a month.
The Youth Choir sings once a month at 11:30 a.m. Mass.
The Grade School Choir sings at our 5:15 p.m. Mass once a month.
CANTORS
Music is integral in Catholic worship because our Liturgy is a sung liturgy. Cantors are leaders of congregational song, inviting all to participate fully in sung prayer. Their words, gestures and their own prayer assist the assembly so that their song may be prayer from the heart. Their main role is to proclaim the Responsorial Psalm and lead the assembly in responding to the first reading.
MUSICIANS
Organists and pianists give leadership to congregational song, assisting the sung prayer of the assembly. Music has the ability to touch the hearts of the faithful and therefore must be presented well. Musicians recognize their musical talents and develop them for the glory of God. They prepare well, play with confidence and understand their musical role as ministry and prayer, rather than performance.
St. Peter's began in 1846 and is located downtown, and we are quite a booming parish. Please stop by and join us this Sunday.
