The people of First Baptist Church seek to love God with heart and soul, mind and strength. We worship together in a spirit of reverence and joy, study together with reasoned and reflective faith, work together for peace and justice, and cherish individual freedom as we welcome believers from all traditions.

Music has always had a special place in our worship service. Each Sunday, the music helps to ease the burdens we bring with us and focus our minds on the elements of our worship; it opens the doors of our souls and brings us closer to God. While most of our music is drawn from the classical traditions, we celebrate the diversity of music with excursions into other styles.

Our candlelight "Festival of Lessons and Carols" on Christmas Eve is a treasured holiday tradition at First Baptist. Patterned on the traditional service at King's College Chapel, Cambridge, the service has been presented annually since 1969.

Our music program is professionally directed and accompanied. We have an adult choir, a handbell choir and two children's choirs. The children's choirs participate regularly in worship services as well as in at least one major musical production each year.
