A Tradition of Great Music for Over a Century
Since its earliest days in the 1800s, The First Congregational Church of Ann Arbor has held music dear as a central part of its ministry. The wealth of wonderful musicians in Ann Arbor, including many members of this church, has allowed joyful and inspiring religious works to flow through the lovely church on State Street.
Throughout our history, the Chancel Choir has been a treasure of the church. On almost every Sunday of the school year, the choir presents great religious anthems of many styles and leads the congregation in hymns. The Chancel Choir includes church members as well as paid section leaders.
Twice a year the choir, along with the orchestra, prepares a major musical work, presented on a Sunday during Advent and on Palm Sunday. Recent presentations have included Mozart's Requiem, Bach's Magnificat and Handel's Messiah.
FCC Orchestra
The First Congregational Church Orchestra combines some of the many talented musicians in the church family with other instrumentalists from the Ann Arbor area. The orchestra presents with the Chancel Choir on the large musical works during Advent and on Palm Sunday.
Handchime Choir
The Handchime Choir delights the congregation during Sunday morning worship services.
Children’s Choir: “M & M Kids”
The Music and Movement area of the church school hosts the Children’s Choir called “M & M Kids.” Comprise of grade school children, this choir sings periodically during worship services.
