Since it was dedicated on May 8, 1881, Our Lady Help of Christians Church has been the repository of deep faith and tireless dedication of parishioners, clergy, and religious. For more than a century, the Church has been the center of parish life and the heart of a commitment to live the traditions of our Catholic faith and to share them with future generations.
Our Music Ministry
Adult Choir - The adult choir is a vibrant group comprised of about 40 professional and non-professional musicians who share in their love for music and worship. In addition to providing music at Sunday liturgies and special celebrations within the parish, we are strengthened by the friendship and camaraderie that grows through participation in this (large) ministry. Our growing repertoire consist of Latin motets, traditional, contemporary and classical music sung in collaboration with piano, organ, strings, and other musical instruments. The choir is scheduled for at least two 10 AM Sunday Liturgies a month between September and May.
Adult Handbell Choir - This dedicated group of talented musicians plays for concerts, weddings, special liturgies, and Masses. As part of the parish music ministry, this choir often plays in conjunction with the vocal choirs and various musicians.
Children/Youth Choir - About 45 young voices help lead our parish in “sung prayer” twice a month at the 10am Liturgy. The Children/Youth Choir members are second to eighth graders who also sing on special occasions such as Christmas Liturgy, First Communion and Concerts.
Contemporary Ensemble - This group celebrates the Sunday 6pm Liturgies with music in the Folk, Pop, and Gospel style, as well as classic hymns. The vibrant group of over 20 singers is accompanied by instruments including piano, guitar, bass, percussion, flutes, and even harmonica!
