It is the oldest church in the nation that has maintained uninterrupted worship services in the German language for 250 years, and Zion is now the only church in Maryland to offer a weekly service in German.
Our lovely sanctuary is accented by a uniquely designed wood pulpit and highlighted by 25 exquisite stained glass windows.
Zion holds fast to a traditional worship setting in the Sunday services, making use of the rich sacramental and liturgical heritage of Lutheranism.
Zion's organist and choirmaster leads a choir of professionals and volunteers
in anthems which complement the weekly services.
Visit the Music, Zion Sounds Page, to listen to samples of our choirs music.
Zion's garden has a long history as a well-known oasis for downtown workers and has been voted Best of Baltimore's city gardens several times.
Throughout the year, Zion opens its doors and invites in the community to share a meal and some fellowship in its lovely buildings and garden. Among the annual events that have become well known in the Baltimore community are the Mayfest, the Gartenfest, Wine & Cheese Tasting Event, and the Sour Beef event.
Please be invited to “join in the festal processions” to give thanks to God, to feel his light shine upon you, to be called, enlightened and made holy – on Pentecost and Trinity Sundays, and each and every Sunday!
