Located in the heart of Lexington since 1816, we are a progressive congregation that extends Christian hospitality to all as we gather for life-changing worship, seek faith with understanding, and engage in service to the world.
Music is Central to our life together as we worship, teach the faith, extend Christian hospitality and reach out to serve others.
Central's Chancel Choir is a volunteer singing group, singing for every 11 a.m. worship service. They present major works each Christmas - the McDaniel Memorial Choral Presentation - with orchestra and soloists. Each Easter, the Chancel Choir sings at both services with the Eastern Kentucky University Brass Quintet and timpani.
Central has five octaves of Schulmerich handbells and three octaves of tone chimes. In addition, Central has a duplicate set of two octave Schulmerich bells.
Central also hosts the rehearsals of the community handbell ensemble, Alluring. This is an auditioned, professional level handbell choir that rings periodically in our services.
Our Youth Choir, which includes handbells, play periodically in our services.
KidsSING is Central's music program for children, grades K-5. The children have a variety of experiences including singing, ringing handbells, playing Orff instruments, moving, and praying. The highlight event of past years has been the Spring Musicals.
