To praise God through worship, music and fine arts is one of the most faithful ways of proclaiming God’s Word. Our Proclamation Ministries seeks to proclaim to all ages, both inwardly and outwardly in ways that renew and release the Holy Spirit. We recognize this through ‘aha’ moments when new people discover God and when people return to renew their relationship with God. We do this by varying the style and methods of presentation, collaborating with other ministries and taking God’s presence beyond our walls.
Our Music Ministry
Sanctuary Choir - these adults of the congregation serve God through music at weekly services.
Youth Choir - students grades 7th-12th grade sing at 4:30 pm Sundays from September through the end of May.
Contemporary Ensemble - sing at two to three worship Sunday services every month at 11am.
Adult Handbell Choir - typically play Level 2-4 music twice a month in worship using 5 octaves of Schulmerich handbells and 2 octaves of Malmark handchimes.
Youth Handbell Choir - children from 3rd-12th grade that typically play Level 1 music once or twice a month in worship using 5 octaves of Schulmerich handbells and 2 octaves of Malmark handchimes.
Flute Choir - play frequently in worship, most often at the 5pm Saturday service.
Instrumentalist - individuals, duets and ensembles play frequently in worship.
Atonement Brass - groups from quartet to brass ensemble size play at some festivals and other Sundays, such as Transfiguration and Rally Day.
Atonement Chamber Ensemble - currently comprised of flute, violin, cello and piano, this group performs primarily music of the Baroque era.
Joyful Noise Children's Choir - children in grades 1st-6th that partake periodically in our services.
Kansas City BrassWorks - a resident professional Brass group at Atonement. They perform on the festival Sundays of Easter, Pentecost, Reformation and Christmas Eve, as well as their annual Christmas concert.
Martin Ott Pipe Organ - this gorgeous instrument was designed and built by Martin Ott Pipe Organs of St. Louis. It has 38 stops and 55 ranks over 3 manuals and pedal. It is a tracker action instrument, meaning that there is a direct mechanical linkage (as opposed to electrical) between the key on the keyboard and the valve under the pipe.
