West Des Moines Christian Church was established in 1890 and is the oldest church in West Des Moines. We began our ministry above a store in Valley Junction; in 1893 we built our first church building at 6th and Elm Streets. In the spring of 2007, we continued our growth by opening our amazing new sanctuary. Our desire to be a caring church for a growing community has led us to add new programming, additional staff and new opportunities in worship, service, education, music, spiritual growth, fellowship and sports.
OUR MUSIC MINISTRY
Chancel Choir & Vision
Vision sings at the Sunday service(s). The Chancel Choir sings at the 2nd service. On special Sundays, the choirs combine to sing at both services
Chalice Ensemble
This ensemble is for all instrumentalists (brass, woodwinds, percussion, etc.) from 5th grade through adult. The group plays for special worship occasions.
Sounding Brass
This ensemble is for all brass players from 5th grade through adult. The group plays for special worship occasions.One Voice
One Voice is for all youth in grades 6-12. They sing regularly during Sunday morning worship services.Jubilant Ringers
High school youth & adults. They play once a month for both service(s).Wind Ensemble
The wind ensemble is for all band instrumentalists (brass, woodwinds, and percussion) from 7th grade through adult. The group plays 2-3 times a year for special occasions.
Joyful Noise
The Children’s Choir is for children in grades K-2. The choir sings lots of fun new worship songs and traditional favorites. They sing at worship services several times throughout the year.
Good News Gang
Good News Gang is for children in grades 3-5. Choir members learn lively songs of praise to share with the entire congregation. They sing several times thru the year at one of the worship services.One Voice

Friendship Bells is for children in grades 3-5. The choir learns beginning handbell techniques and shares music throughout the year during one of the worship services.Jubilant Ringers
