Our Mission:
Messengers of Peace and Hope, Sharing Jesus Christ.

Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church has a variety of worship services and styles to proclaim the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people. They are:

Traditional Service - In this service, liturgical traditions and hymns are blended with some familiar southern gospel favorites as well as a few contemporary songs.

Contemporary Praise Service - Led by our Praise Team, this service is filled with popular praise and worship songs and follows a more free-flowing style of service.

“Come As You Are” Service - Held on Saturday nights at 5:00 pm, is a very relaxed traditional service where the people “come as they are.” In this service, liturgical traditions and hymns are blended with some familiar southern gospel favorites as well as a few contemporary songs.

Youth On FIRE – Held on Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm, this contemporary service is led by Chosen, our youth band. This worship gathering is for all high school aged youth. This service is filled with popular praise and worship songs and follows a more free-flowing style of service.

OUR MUSIC MINISTRY
Acquire
Acquire is our adult choir ministry. They perform throughout the year at various worship services including Advent and Lent.

Praise Team
The Praise Team is made up of singers and instrumentalists who provide the music at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday contemporary worship service.

Chosen
Chosen is our High School youth band. They have led many worship services in the Des Moines area and also at the 2007 National Youth Gathering and the 2006 and 2007 Iowa District Youth gatherings.

Kyrie
“Kyrie” is our high-school youth choir. “Kyrie” performs throughout the school year and engages in many different styles of music ranging from contemporary praise and worship to southern gospel hymns.

JuBELLation Choir
Our “JuBELLation Choir” is our handbell choir performs on a monthly basis in the Sunday worship services.

Foundation” & “Cornerstone” Children’s Choirs
“Foundation” is our children’s choir for children kindergarten - 4th grade. The choir performs periodically throughout the year during the 10:30am worship service. “Cornerstone” is our children’s choir for children children preschool age. They perform periodically throughout the year during the 10:30am worship service.

Tekna
“Tekna” is our choir for children 5th grade – 8th grade. They perform periodically throughout the year during the 10:30am worship service.
