Our Music & Arts

The Arts, perhaps more than any other language, stimulate our whole being to experience that which we might not otherwise recognize. What better language then, than music and art, can we use to approach God and to be shaped by the Spirit? Building upon a long tradition, we at First Presbyterian Church provide music and arts opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to sing and pray with the Spirit using their own unique artistic voices.

Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir is composed of 55 adults who provide worship leadership most Sunday mornings at 10:15am, in addition to festival Sundays and large choral works offered seasonally.

Youth Choir
The Youth Choir is composed of singers in grades 7 - 12 and generally does worship leadership on one Sunday each month. They also prepare services for special Youth Sundays, outreach services to local retirement homes, and musicals.

Junior Choir and Orff Choir
The Junior Choir is composed of children grades 2 - 6 and focuses on vocal development, worship understanding, incorporating instruction and use of Orff instruments. They provide worship leadership once each month, usually on the first Sunday. They also participate in the annual Christmas Pageant, Palm Sunday and Easter Vigil services, and semi-annual musicals.

Carol Choir
This training choir meets on Sunday mornings for the first 20 minutes of the Christian Education hour. They learn basic music skills and tools for understanding liturgy and worship in a fun and engaging atmosphere.
