Episcopalians worship in many different styles, ranging from very formal, ancient, and multi-sensory rites with lots of singing, music, vestments and incense, to informal services with contemporary music.Yet all worship in the Episcopal Church is based in the Book of Common Prayer, which gives worship a familiar feel no matter where you go.
Wonderful music is a tradition at Trinity. Congregational singing is rich and varied, and our choirs and instrumentalists continually explore new ways to give glory to God.
The Congregation
The congregation is the principal choir of Trinity. Congregational singing at 8:45 and 11:00 is vigorous, connecting "the spirit and the understanding" (ICor.14:15). Singing one another's songs during worship at Trinity is a way of building community and of ministering grace, peace, and healing to one another, the community, and the world. Congregational singing is for all ages and all levels of ability- every Christian should add their voice to the Song, for the Song cannot be compete while some are not heard.
Trinity Choir
The adult choir rehearses weekly during the school year on Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 pm. The choir sings at our 11:00 am service from September through Trinity Sunday in late spring or early summer.The Advent Festival Choir
This festival choir combines the Trinity Choir with singers who are unable to participate in choir all the time. The combined Choir sings in the Service of Lessons and Carols on the third Sunday of Advent (mid-December.Youth Choir
The Youth Choir includes young people in second grade and up who want to sing. The Choir sings about once a month for the 8:45 am or 11:00 am service.
Second Sunday Jazz Evensong
John Rapson and friends lead Jazz Evensong at 5:00 pm on most of the Second Sundays from September to April. Combining elements of plainsong chant and jazz, the ancient and the contemporary meet in psalms, readings, canticles, and prayers.First Sunday Choral Evensong
During the school year, join us for Choral Evensong on the first Sunday of each month. Choral Evensong is a service of reflection - of leaving oneself open that God may speak through the psalms and readings and canticles which are the core of the service. We invite you to share with us in a form of worship that has been offered for many centuries. In the Anglican tradition, Evensong combines the medieval monastic offices of Vespers and Compline. A rich and living inheritance of choral music for Evensong has developed through the generations, and continues to develop today. Here beauty in language and music can speak to us of God in a rich and diverse way. For many people, Choral Evensong brings respite from the ceaseless activity of daily life.
