Northwest Sacred Music Chorale - Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

In the summer of 2001, Cynthia Haberman Marlette assembled a small, dedicated group of vocalists who recognized a lack of choral opportunities for adult singers in the Coeur d'Alene area, and made a decision to form a new chorale. The Northwest Sacred Music Chorale was born, and the following mission statement was adopted:

"The Northwest Sacred Music Chorale exists to promote and celebrate the tradition of sacred choral music in Coeur d'Alene, by giving singers in the region an opportunity to participate in a community choir that performs quality sacred choral music."

Music forms a common basis for bonding among peoples of all ages. Although we are not a religious organization, many of our area churches are represented by Chorale participants. Our common desire is to sing, to experience, and especially, to share the uplifting joy found in the music of centuries of worship as well as the classical music of the ages. New members of the Chorale are always welcome! Our singers represent the entire local geographic area and include the young, budding high school singer as well as the seasoned, professional musician.

Come join us or show your support of the Chorale by attending our performances! Together we can continue to build a program that will put Coeur d'Alene and the surrounding area on the map of musical appreciation. Our objective is to make this music a community treasure for many years to come.

Some of our repertoire highlights have included John Rutter's Gloria with brass, organ and percussion, Haydn's Mass In Time of War with full orchestra, and Vivaldi's Gloria and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony as joint collaborations with the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra.

Our Fall concert focuses on classical selections, the Christmas concert on traditional favorites, and the Spring concert on gospel, contemporary and jazz selections centered around Michael Kissinger's Sacred Cantata.
