Central Union Church Children's Choirs Mission Statement
The Mission of Central Union Church's Children's Choirs program is to provide all interested children, regardless of previous musical experience, with an outstanding worship-leading, Christian music education program offered in a positive and nurturing environment which fosters self-esteem, personal, musical and spiritual growth. The program is founded on the principle that all children are inherently talented and capable.
The Children's Choirs program is child-centered. It maintains an excellent and professional staff to accomplish its mission, and advocates additional music education outside of its own program. Age-appropriate repertoire is selected from music that exemplifies the finest quality of textual and compositional craftsmanship in music for children.
The children rehearse together each week to develop their vocal and musicianship skills. They lead in worship through music at least once per month. At one level, the desired result is informed, expressive, and empowering musical performances. At another level the choir members experience not only the joys of singing, but also the benefits of teamwork, musical understanding, self discipline, artistic and spiritual expression - experiences which foster growth towards Christian maturity which will enhance their entire lives.
We embrace the words of wisdom of Helen Kemp:
"Body, Mind, Spirit, Voice
It takes the whole person to sing and rejoice."
