Our Music Ministry

 

Choir of Man and Boys
This choir sings the 9:00 a.m. service on a Sundays, and uses English Cathedral repertoire, with music drawn from as early as the fifteenth century to the present day.



Choir of Jr. and Sr. Girls
Their repertoire is based upon the same English Cathedral style as the boys. The girls sing the 11.15 Rite 1 service on Sunday morning, with a reduced number of men, or Men's Ensemble.

The Mendelssohn Choir
This choir is named in honor of Felix Mendelssohn, the great German composer who had such a strong influence on music in Great Britain in the 19th century, and who is considered by many to have composed some of the most significant choral music of that, or any other era. It was felt that such a group would fulfill a need, both in the Parish and in the larger community for a choir which specialized in oratorio and cantata performance.The members have come from Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties.

Our "Friends of Music" program enables us to offer special programs and concerts in St. John's. In addition, and perhaps most importantly, it allows St. John's to continue its long-standing commitment to fine music and liturgy in the service of God's church on earth.
