First Church Worships at three Services, each unique in its approach. All Services share a common purpose, to be in the presence of God with the community of faith, to participate in the Sacraments, to hear God's Word proclaimed, to be nourished through the prayer, liturgy, singing and other spiritually uplifting moments with fellow seekers, and to go into the world as a faithful disciple of Christ.

The first worship service is a traditional service that emphasizes the spoken word, personal reflection, prayer and traditional hymns.

The second worship service is a “contemporary” service filled with music provided by the Rock of Ages Praise Band and powerful messages from our pastors.

The third worship blends traditional liturgies, creative worship arts including vocal choirs, instrumental ensembles, organ, dance and drama, and the Word of God in scripture and sermon.

Psalm 98:1 – “Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things."

The Worship Arts program at First United Methodist includes 6 singing choirs, a contemporary worship team of singers and instrumentalists, 2 instrumental ensembles, 3 handbell choirs, a sacred dance group and drama troupe. All the ensembles provide support to the three Sunday morning worship services on a rotating basis.

First United Methodist’s 75 rank Aeolian-Skinner organ is one of the finest instruments in the Southeast. The organ’s primary function is to lead worship and congregation song, but it also is capable of playing the significant literature of all periods.
