WHO WE ARE
In The Heart Of The City, With The City In Its Heart
We are a Church with a rich and wonderful past. As you enter, you will notice an atmosphere of worship and reverence. Both as a Cathedral and downtown parish, St. John's has been a vital creative center. Our ministries span the gamut: cultural, social and spiritual. Our parish family wonderfully diverse. Our liturgy is profoundly beautiful. Our music incomparable.
Consisting of 40 singers, the Choir at St. John's is an integral part of the worship experience, singing every Sunday in the regular services, and also for Carol Services, Evensongs as well as Holy Day services.
The Cathedral Choir is comprised of auditioned singers, many of whom are also accomplished instrumentalists. Adding to the Cathedral music department are principals from the Jacksonville Symphony, along with other professional players in the area.
The St. John's Cathedral Choristers is a children's choir, open to all 3rd through 12th graders. They sing several Sundays per month and on selected special services throughout the year.
Jazz Vespers
The Sunday Groove
Every second and fourth Sunday evening (6PM March-October; 5PM November-February), the Cathedral is open for a casual, relaxed setting of gorgeous jazz chosen for the close of the day.
Some of the world's most distinguished organ and choral professionals have been invited to play recitals at St. John's on the 63-rank Austin Pipe Organ.
We invite you to "come and see," join us in worship, fellowship and community outreach as the Cathedral in the heart of the city, with the city in it's heart.
