THE MISSION OF TRINITY CHURCH
God's love calls us to proclaim with joy
the Good News of Jesus Christ,
to welcome all people into the community of faith,
and to serve Christ through serving others.
On Sunday mornings, we make a joyful noise unto the Lord at 7:45, 9:00, and 11:00. The 7:45 service is small and intimate; the 9:00 is relaxed and contemporary-the Sunday school children join us halfway through the service. The 11:00 service uses the traditional language of the Book of Common Prayer, Rite One, and is a bit more formal without being inflexible.
From the founding of Trinity in 1752, music has been an important part of its services of worship. By 1776, Trinity was taking the lead in establishing singing as a regular part of all Episcopal services throughout Connecticut.
The organ, the console of which is in the chancel, is a superb example of the organ builder's art. Installed in 1935, the instrument was designed by G. Donald Harrison and built by the Aeolian Skinner Organ Company. It comprises 67 stops, 83 ranks, and 4,656 pipes, of which 3,544 are in the nave organ and 1,112 in the chancel organ. The most recent addition is a tuba stop added in 1979.
Besides the beautiful anthem you hear when you entered our web site, there is additional music available for you to enjoy on the Music At Trinity page. We also have CDs of our choirs available for purchase through our site.
If you can't join us for worship, you can access an archive of our sermons in audio and text formats posted on our web site.
