Our purpose is to joyfully worship a wonderful, just and gracious God, help people grow as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the power of His Spirit share the message of God's love throughout the world.
We are a missional church that is focused outward, on making a spiritual and societal impact outside its four walls by meeting felt needs and sharing the hope we have in Jesus Christ with gentleness and respect.
Our 9:30 a.m. service offers a traditional worship experience in the Sanctuary with the Chancel Choir providing music leadership.
The 11:00 a.m. service is a contemporary service led by the First Pres Worship Team and the Salt and Light Foundation Choir. The Salt and Light Choir consists of approximately 80 high school students who love to bring their ministry and energy to the contemporary worship experience.
Each week, First Pres hosts NORTH, an Emergent Worship Service, held in our Sanctuary on Sunday nights at 6:30 p.m. It's musical worship, a declaration of who we are according to God, relevant teaching, visual artistic expressions, and a communal and contemplative feel.
Our Ministry of Music seeks to serve people by preparing their hearts, souls, and minds to worship our Creator, Sustainer and Redeemer. We also seek to support the spoken and written Word and endeavor to lead the congregation in the elements of worship while providing avenues for renewal, fellowship and growth in Christ to the Glory of God.
It is comprised of a Chancel Choir, 1st Pres Ringers, Contemporary worship, Salt and Light, Jubilation, Exaltation, Joyful Noise and a New Creations choirs.
This ministry serves the entire worshipping congregation at First Presbyterian Church and the community at large. First and foremost is the ministry we do every Sunday and holiday throughout the year. The Department of Ministry through Music provides worship planning and music for every worship service held at First Presbyterian.
Additionally, the Department of Ministry through Music offers concerts throughout the year that are open to the public and often free of charge.
Each Sunday, a First Presbyterian Church pastor delivers a biblically-based sermon to the First Pres congregation. Whether you were unable to attend a worship service or just want to revisit a sermon again, you may request that a CD be sent to your home, or access one of the links on our web site to listen to the sermons right on your computer.
We hope that you will discover a bit about who we are and how you can become more involved in the life and ministry of our church.
