Locally, our history begins with the Methodist Episcopal Society of Orange County in 1873. The First United Methodist Church of Orange sits, today, on property donated by Captain Henry Glassell in 1875. We were the first Methodist church to be commissioned in Orange County, California, and the first church of any denomination to be erected in what is now the city of Orange, California (then Richland, California).

Our Music Ministry

Praise Band
The FUMCO Praise Band is a contemporary praise and worship band providing music for worship services and special events. We are dedicated to praising Jesus Christ through contemporary praise music. It is our hope that the music helps people develop and deepen their relationships with Jesus.

Sanctuary Choir
The Sanctuary Choir plays an integral part in the worship experience at the First United Methodist Church of Orange. This traditional choir sings a variety of sacred music, incorporating classics, traditional anthems, hymn arrangements, and spirituals.

Skyword Choir
The SkyWord Choir plays an integral part in the worship experience at the First United Methodist Church of Orange. This contemporary choir leads the congregation once a month.

Children's Handchine Choir
The handchime choir is comprised of children K-grade 7. They participate in the Sunday morning worship service about every six weeks.

Handbell Choir
The handbell choir is comprised of Junior High age to adult. The choir participates in the Sunday morning worship service about every two months.
