Bethany Baptist Church was organized Tuesday, February 9, 1960 by the late Reverend Dr. Huey W. Watson, Sr. at the Gladys Memorial Chapel, in the Bakers Mortuary, Oakland, California. Here it still stands, forty-eight years later, at the dawning of the New Millenium--as a viable part of the community. With God's guidance, Bethany will forge forward into the 21st century--a place of worship, and as a resting place to all who are weary.

In Old Testament times every special occasion was cause for celebration in the form of singing and dancing. In both forms of expression, the emphasis was upon rhythm While some folk music and psalms (like Psalm 22, 56, and 60) had popular melodies, melody itself was of secondary importance in Hebrew music. Throughout Israel's history, music played an important party in the religious life of the nation.

Bethany Baptist Church is blessed to have a thriving music department.

We have a Mass Choir, Church Choir, Men's Chorus, Women's Choir, Young People's Choir, Children's Choir, and a Praise and Worship Team, along with a Praise Dance Ministry!
