First First United Methodist Church Tucson is a fellowship of seekers, finders and sharers. In addition to Sunday worship services and Sunday School, we offer many opportunities for fellowship, volunteer service and community outreach.
OUR MUSIC MINISTRY
Chancel Choir First Church's Chancel Choir leads worship every Sunday from mid-August till late May. The choir sings hymns of worship and also performs major choral works at Christmas and Easter. Past performances include include Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, John Rutter’s Gloria, J. S. Bach’s cantata, Christ lag in Todesbanden (BWV 4), and excerpts from Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem. In 2007, they presented selections from Händel’s Messiah.Scholarship Singers First Church is blessed to sponsor several young professionals who sing with the Chancel Choir and provide solos during the offertory each Sunday.
Special Concerts at First Church
First Church hosted the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and Chorus from Ukraine, who performed under the direction of Roger McMurrin as part of its 125th anniversary celebration.
Another favorite group of this congregation is Harp Fusion, the University of Arizona's legendary 11-member premier harp ensemble.
We frequently have students of the University of Arizona's School of Music who play their senior recitals in our sanctuary.
Sunday worship at First Church Tucson features a blend of traditional and contemporary elements. We approach God in ways that are familiar and at the same time fresh, alive, and creative. Our Sunday worship offerings include:
** Music – A variety of musical genres – from traditional Methodist hymns to spirituals, jazz renditions and contemporary Christian songs. We regularly feature our chancel choir, hand bell choir, guest soloists, organ, piano, percussion, and orchestral accompaniments, and a variety of other special musical offerings. . . and much more!Join us this Sunday!
