Worship is the most important thing we do here at Prescott United Methodist Church. Through our regular worship services, the word of Jesus in stained glass window God is lifted up, the fellowship of believers is strengthened, and the power of the spirit is manifested. The weekly prayers and hymns are an important part of the spiritual life of our worshippers.
We offer regular worship services on Sunday mornings at 9 and 10:30 AM, and on Saturdays at 5 PM. The 9 AM service is often standing room only and is filled with families with children, as well as a large number of retired folks, reflecting the demographics of Prescott. The 10:30 service is a bit slower paced and doesn't feel quite as rushed on most Sundays.
The Saturday service is our contemporary worship service, complete with praise hymns and a praise band. It is a "come as you are" service, so don't expect to see too many folks all dressed up! All three of these services enjoy the ministries of our choirs and talented music leaders.The Chancel Choir sings every Sunday at the 9:00 and l0:30 worship services. They sing a variety of music, including traditional anthems, spirituals, and contemporary offerings.
The Celebration Choir, which has around 52 members, sings a couple times a month for our worship services on Saturday evenings and occasionally on Sunday mornings. This choir sings contemporary music, both acappella and accompanied pieces.
PUMC is very proud of its handbell choirs. The Chancel Chimes choir plays intermediate to advanced handbell music for the occasional worship service. This choir also presents music to nursing homes and for the Acker Music festival in downtown Prescott in December.
The Hosanna Bells is our newest adult bell choir for beginning handbell ringers, yet the music they play is also both fun and enjoyable (together, they don't sound like "beginners").
Our Saturday evening Praise Band continues to grow. We have enthusiastic song leaders, several guitarists, an acoustic bass, trumpet, keyboard, and several faithful drummers.
