The Sanctuary Choir is an important part of regular services and special gatherings where the purpose is communal worship of God. It aids the assembled worshipers in the singing of hymns and provides an added element of praise through introits, responses and anthems.
Highlights:
1. The annual Favorite Anthems Concerts given twice in February. The concert and sales of CDs of this program enhances and aids in our ministry to the community.
2. Once each year, choirs from other churches in Green Valley gather in one of the participating choir's churches for a program of singing individually as a choir unit and collective.
3. A unique part of the music ministry is that the Sanctuary Choir sings at every Sunday service throughout the year. They also lead the worship services on Christmas Eve and other special events, as requested.
4. Choir membership continues to increase each year and now totals 120 members.
5. Valley Presbyterian's handbell choir, Valley Ringers, is directed by Raymond T. Ryder. Valley Ringers participates in Sunday morning services, usually the second Sunday, September through May. The bell choir uses five octaves of Malmark bells, and three octaves of Malmark chimes; the third octave of chimes was acquired this fall.
