June with ClarenceWaldron (senior editor, JET) ... AND... June with J Moss

There are a lot of reasons why!

* Stellar vocals from a very talented woman, who is a servant of the Lord, inspired both musically and spiritually by the Holy Spirit.

* Truly inspiring lyrics, presented in just the right mood and style for maximum enjoyment and effect. June Rochelle wrote the lyrics for all the songs, except one. Her lyrics express so well each theme found in each individual song.

* Glorious compositions, created by June's partner / producer on this project, Robert Tatum Jr., which "blend urban, adult contemporary and gospel music styles." June Rochelle did the vocal arrangements and did compose the song WORSHIP by herself..

Let's Talk About the Vocals.....

The vocal performances heard on this CHANGING PLACES CD have brought recognition to the considerable talents of June Rochelle and what the Lord has inspired in her.

At the 2006 En Sound Music awards held on August 22nd, 2006, June Rochelle won Best Female Vocalist award for her performances on CHANGING PLACES.

Her growing fan base have named her, " The Queen of Soul and Inspiration."

I heartily agree!! It is June's vocals which is the main catalyst which bring all elements of the songs on this album together in such an inspiring and uplifting fashion. Concerning her vocal performances; WOW! What a gift she has for singing and performing, using all her gifts in a masterful way to uplift and encourage the listener as she professionally presents in the highest form of musical sound this truly special collection of songs. Her promotional materials say, "June Rochelle is in possession of a powerful yet well-tempered vocal range that bridges the soprano and alto registers."

They are not kidding!! One can readily understand all the accolades she has received from the Gospel music world and her growing fan base. Her vocal range and tone, terrific breath control, ability to use dynamics, ability to smoothly sing hard intervals, and her ability to put her heart and soul, and the Spirit of God into her music through her voice and delivery are awesome, a truly "feed the soul" listening experience, sure to bless the listener.

Robert Tatum Jr.'s Musical Compositions....

June told ChristianMusic.com, "I did the lyrics and my producer Robert Tatum Jr. did the music on this current project, 'CHANGING PLACES.'

It is always a revelation to me how the Holy Spirit works with people's musical talents to create such a wide variety of Christian music. While June is a talented songwriter and lyricist, on this project, CHANGING PLACES, June teamed up with a talented partner who also produced this Holy Spirit inspired collection of songs.

June Rochelle's partner on his CD, Robert Tatum Jr., Was the composer/producer and he created the music, with the exception of the song WORSHIP, for this wonderful, comforting package of soulful Christian Contemporary, R & B and urban Gospel anthems, worship and praise songs, prayer hymns and songs of joy which have great, moving, memorable melodies, effective dynamics, well-written compositions, always just the right musical vehicle for stunning, heart-felt vocals by the enormously talented June Rochelle, and for the meaningful lyrical themes presented, which offer so much hope and encouragement to the listener.

What a great pairing of talent! Robert Tatum composed the music, June arranged the vocals and wrote the lyrics, and the Lord inspired them both! It is no wonder that their music is so well received by so many people, doing very well on the charts and been nominated for awards.

June Rochelle's Lyrical Messages

June told ChristianMusic.com, "All the lyrics were birth by inspiration of the Holy Spirit on how to have a positive outlook in every situation. God gives me the messages in different ways and at different times."

The themes of the songs go a long way to guide the listener to take comfort in God's love, be grateful for his love, and encourage praise and worship of our Lord. Also, the love which exists in human relationships can be a positive force, though not always. Dwelling on the positives of belonging to the Lord can encourage us to depend on the Lord and develop our relationship wih Him.. June says in her promotional materials, "The songs I write are about life as I live and see it."

The lyrical themes explore the aspects of the Lord's perfect steadfast love for us and that of human love, which offer a wonderful antidote to pain, depression and restlessness, giving hope, strength and comfort to those in pain, as well as being a wonderful reminder to the rest of us not currently experiencing personal pain of just what a dependable source of support and love one can have in Jesus, who loves us unconditionally as his children, reminding us all to depend and trust the Lord in all things.

The lyrical messages in some songs are from some of the most meaningful scriptural phrases which are personal favorites of not only this reviewer but of many other people as well, as they remind us of the Lord's promises which we can depend on to see us through anything.

A great example of meaningful scriptural phrases can be found in the song, WHEREVER YOU GO - Lyrics are based on scriptural meanings found in Psalms 27:1-2 & 118:6, and Romans 8:35-39, which is stated above under the Mission Statement. It is such a treat to hear a song with such powerful promises in the lyrics.

The lyrics in these songs do reflect what June has learned through life's experiences and her relationship with the Lord Jesus. June shares with ChristianMusic.com what she has learned from experiences in her life and what has happened when she trusted the Lord which she shares in her lyrical messages in these songs.

"God's love - enduring / steadfast / faithful / always dependable and always with us."

"That God is love and He loves us through and in spite of every thing we do right or when we miss the mark. That His love is great and far reaching in our lives. That HE is our deliverer and our help if we just trust Him."

FOR ALL THE LOVE - Begins the CD on a theme of gratitude and thanksgiving, a beautiful love letter to the Lord, a real testimony of what the Lord not only has done for June, but also what He is willing to do for us when we trust Him. This song was #1 on the Gospel Showcase Radio Network and earned her a En Sound Music Award nomination for Song of the Year.

WHEREVER YOU GO - Lyrics are based on scriptural meanings found in Psalms 27:1-2 & 118:6, and Romans 8:35-39. God is for us, who can be against us? * Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. A Powerful song paired with a powerful message!

SEEK & YE SHALL FIND - Based on Matt. 7:7-8, John 14:13-14, Rev. 3:20, James 1:5-7. The Lord promises that if we seek Him, He will answer.

CHANGING PLACES - The title song, CHANGING PLACES expresses the importance of stepping out in faith in the Lord when things get rough and storms come, being focused on dreams and goals, maintaining a positive attitude even when opposition tries to block your efforts, by relying on the Lord to lead us through to the other side of better times and blessings.

HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW- A standard Gospel chestnut arranged into an inspiring rendition, which motivates the listener not to worry about trials and problems, because the Lord is looking out for our best interests.

We can love the Lord back with our worship, using our gifts for His service, through prayer, and focusing on what is good, uplifting, inspiring to our souls.

WORSHIP - A truly lovely praise and worship song with a moving, memorable melody, heart-felt vocals and great dynamics, and a wonderful message about worshiping and praising the Lord.

JUST BECAUSE I'M SAVED - A fun, peppy R & B dance song, about showing joy and gladness of belonging to the Lord through dancing, as a form of joyous worship. Having fun as a family or in a group of fellow believers of God through dance does bring glory to God in this physical form of worship.

RADIO - Smooth R & B with elements of urban Gospel.Music can be an uplifting experience, a force which feeds the soul. Verses testify to the power and love of Jesus in someone's life.

USE ME LORD - John 4:19 - We love because God first loved us. The Lord's faithful and merciful love in turn inspires us ask to be used by Him to help others, show then His love, share the good news about Jesus. Song was extremely popular on the Gospel music charts.

WHAT'S GOIN' ON? - Our violent, painful world needs the good news now more than ever. We need to pray for strength, wisdom and discernment and get busy reaching out to make things better.

While human love isn't perfect, and human relationships can range from wonderful and nurturing to difficult and full of strife, it still offers us hope and strength in this world, a very necessary part of life. When human love is inspired by the Holy Spirit, it is an important force in the human family, and is a way we serve Him as we show His love to others.

Human love at its best....

To represent a wonderful, loving human relationship, FOREVER BY YOUR SIDE is a great song representing what human love can rise up and become. A song perfect for a wedding, anniversary or to remind married couples of their own loving commitment to each other.

Human love gone terribly off track, because of human weakness.

June Rochelle explains why human love is sometimes the opposite of what the ideal is supposed to be. "Human love - not perfect and dependable because people are not perfect. Human relationships can bring a person to the highest level of satisfaction and fulfillment or can drag a person into a world of pain and despair, stomping on the heart, breaking the spirit, bringing a sense of hopelessness and depression."

STOMP SHAKER, on the other hand, reflects the strife in three relationships, because of lying and mistrust, negativity & pride and being a bad spiritual influence. Human relationships can also bring out the worst in people as well, because human beings are flawed. The composition is a delightful example of urban - hip hop sound, with some heated rap segments in each of the three verses.

June ends the album expressing and testifying to the eternal love of Jesus, who is real and our Lord and Savior.

THIS IS REAL - Jesus Christ is a real person, our Lord and Savior, who walks with us through our troubles, showing us the way if we trust Him.

HIS NAME IS LOVE - The perfect song to end the CD, with a love letter to Jesus, a testimony to his unfailing love.

CHANGING PLACES is a truly inspiring, entertaining, soul-feeding collection of songs, a MUST for anyone's Christian music collection! It was a real blessing to me having the opportunity to review this collection of songs. The compositions, the inspiring vocals by June Rochelle and the meaningful lyrics come together so nicely to offer one of the best listening experiences of the year. This CD belongs on my WOW! What an Album list.

INDIVIDUAL SONG REVIEWS & LYRICS

* * * + + FOR ALL THE LOVE - Words and Music by June Rush/Robert Tatum- Squiram Publishing (ASCAP)

Second favorite song of this reviewer! Anthem is a wonderful, soothing blend of smooth, piano, guitar, and synthesizer, with a perky light R& B feel, mixed with elements of contemporary and Gospe in the vocals, which carry the melody. Great dynamics throughout, which build in intensity, in the Gospel tradition. In the VAMP and last chorus, great contrast in that the vocal backups sing the light and easy bridge & chorus, while June pours out her heart in worship, making hard vocal interval changes and octave jumps seem easy in the VAMP!!!!!

Scriptural References: (1 Peter 5:7, Phil.4:6-8, Ephesians 3:16-18, 1 Cor. 8-9, Ps. 34:19)

Lyrics:

You and me together has been a dream come true /And the way that you care for me / No one can compare to you / I know its taken me some time / To rearrange my mind from all hurts and pains / That happened In my life But me and you are one / I always seek your face There's no other lover that ever can take your place / I keep my mind on you and everything you do / Cause I love you I really love you.

Chorus: For all the love that you give to me and for the many times you've taken care of everything / for the ups and downs that you've brought me through / I wanna say thank you, I love you.

I can always trust you no matter what I've done / You've never left my side and you're the only one / that never lied to me, and still give me everything / And you love me like a queen, that's the reason why I sing / all my praise goes to you / and the many, many things you do / when I couldn't even love myself / you came to my rescue / and you're my love forever /no matter what the weather you said you'll never leave me / we'll always be together

Bridge You give me everythang and Everything is you / You're the reason why I sing / Is to show you I love you

VAMP: You give me everythang and Everything is you / You're the reason why I sing / Is to show you I love you

Chorus For all the love that you give to me and /for the many times you've taken care of everything / for the ups and downs that you've brought me through / I wanna say thank you, I love you.

* * * + HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW

Scriptural References:(Matt. 6:25-31 & 10:29-31)

Another smooth R & B anthem with class- great blend of piano, base guitar, organ and a skilled synthesizer provides a strong, laid-back musical support for June's soulful, heart-felt vocals, which again carry the melody. Bridge has some lovely modulations, which add more musical sparkle.

Lyrics:

Why should I feel discouraged? /And why should the shadows come? / Why should my heart feel lonely /And long for heaven and home?? When Jesus is my portion / A constant friend is He //

His eye is on the sparrow / and I know He watches over me His eye is on the sparrow / and I know He Watches me

Bridge: I sing because I'm happy...I sing because I'm free.....

His eye is on the sparrow / and I know He watches over me / I safely trust, I safely trust his arms.....He watches over me / Keep on blessin' me, Keep on blessin' me,/ He watches over me

* * * + + WORSHIP - Words and Music by June Rush / Robert Tatum -Squiram Publishing (ASCAP)

Third Favorite song of this reviewer. A contemporary worship hymn that would be welcome in any contemporary service. Another beautiful, memorable melody paired with equally effective vocals and an uplifting lyrical message. The worship mood inspired by the song encourages the listener to sing along as the worship mood inspired by the song. Harmonies add sparkle to the chorus. Vocals are stunning as usual, with touches of soul.

Scriptural References: (1 Chr. 16:11, Psalm 118: 27-29, Phil.3:12-14 &.4:6-8,)

Lyrics:

I come boldly, boldly to the throne of grace. I'm seeking your face not your hand. Closer, closer, closer to you….

Now it's time to worship / Worship His name / Give Him all the glory / Give Him all the praise He is truly Holy / He is only worthy / Worship His Name

Now it's time to pray / Ask all in His name / Pray His will be done / That His Kingdom come That His people triumph / Over the roaring lion / Worship His name

He can Never fail. All in Him prevail / High and lifted up, I never get enough / Angels all around can you hear the sound? / Worship His name

Now it's time to worship / Worship His name / Give Him all the glory / Give Him all the praise He is truly Holy / He is only worthy / Worship His Name

Dodododod, dododod, dodod, oh, oh,

Worship His name, Worship His name I come boldly to the throne of grace. I'm not seeking your hand I'm seeking your face. I worship you, I worship you….

Now it's time to worship / Worship His name / Give Him all the glory / Give Him all the praise He is truly Holy / He is only worthy / Worship His Name (fade)

And this is what He said to me. "June, I love you and I'm here for you for the rest of your life. And not only am I here for you, but I'll give you the desires of you heart.."

* * * + + STOMP SHAKER (Stop Talkin to Me) (June Rush/Robert Tatum/Bari Tunstill (The Messenger) Squiram Publishing (ASCAP)

A fine hip hop rap song about breakups of unhealthy human relationships! The offending party is held accountable; First verse is about lying. Second verse is about removing a negative person who was a roadblock, and the third verse is the removal of a spiritual adversary.

Enjoyed the energizing synthesizer musical accompaniement, infectious melody, sharp, crisp vocals and the very well done rap segments, performed in great style, yet are very understandable due to clear diction.

* * * + + HIS NAME IS LOVE (June Rush/Robert Tatum) Squiram Publishing (ASCAP)

A modern anthem with great blend of soul, jazz, R & B, and urban Gospel. Again the musical vehicle was wonderfully created by a synthesizer. It is inspiring what can be done on this important, modern instrument of musical creation. The lead vocals were perfect as usual.
