OVERVIEW
OF IMMEASURABLE CD
In his promotional
materials, Wayburn Dean describes these songs as being "just over the line
from praise & worship; to minister to people where they are, and to give them
a hunger for the things of God."
Wayburn
Dean more than accomplished his goal in IMMEASURABLE. WOW! What an inspirational
Gospel album of contemporary, uplifting songs of
various tempos & moods and genres, which I would categorize as being the best
inspirational album created by a male artist that I have reviewed in a very long
time! This reviewer so enjoyed the listening experience and was inspired on so
many levels it's hard to know where to start.
While our human condition guarantees that we will have our troubles in this world,
Wayburn Dean offers a truly uplifting, encouraging, poignant album, IMMEASURABLE
which can inspire and encourage anyone to persevere and depend on the Lord to
not only empower us to serve Him but also will see us through anything this world
can throw at us, including: tragedy, loss, bumps in the road, ugly actions of
others, and consequences of our own weaknesses.
For
IMMEASURABLE is the perfect antidote for anger, sadness discouragement, stress,
grief, frustration, failure, remorse, and the persistent yearning for the Lord,
by offering a variety of well done, creative songs, ranging from inspirational
praise and worship, poignant ballads, stirring anthems and irresistible songs
of thanksgiving for how loving and merciful our Lord is to us.
This
album is truly a treasure, with songs containing the elements which make up a
great inspirational album. Lyrical messages which expound on the great characteristics
of our Lord and His promises to us are combined with stirring, memorable, flowing
melodies, well-balanced, interesting compositions which are so perfectly brought
to life by the truly comforting and rich tenor voice of Wayburn Dean. His stunning
vocals lift the listener into another level of state of being, freeing the mind,
softening the heart, encouraging the spirit within to take heart in a thankful
attitude. (1 Thess. 5:17)
The
vocals, the lyrical messages, and the musical compositions, which blend a variety
of genres, all work together to present a most dynamic musical package, sure to
bolster one's attitude and resolve, encourage a dependence on and a closer relationship
with the Lord. These songs also bless the listener with a sure way to let one's
troubles, losses or grief float out the window like a balloon as one focuses on
the great Comforter, Enabler, and Source of encouragement;
the Lord who gives us hope.
This
reviewer whole heartily recommends IMMEASURABLE as a MUST for anyone's Christian
Music Collection. Somehow all the award shows missed this gem of an album, which
reaches out to a wide audience! These well composed, well performed, well mixed,
and well produced songs would find a home in any denominational or non-denominational
service and are perfect to pop into your CD player to calm the nerves, soothe
the soul, lift the spirits, bolster one's faith and morale, and encourage one's
walk and dependence on the Lord, no matter the circumstances. Just be sure to
have your dancing shoes, and a box of kleenex nearby, and don't be surprised if
you find yourself singing along as well!

Let's
talk about the Vocals -
One
of the most outstanding characteristics of these songs is the vocal performances.Yikes!
Wayburn Dean has been blessed with a powerful musical instrument in the form of
his voice which he skillfully uses to bring the lyrical messages to life in such
an effective way. Wayburn not only has a rich, full-toned, tenor voice, propelled
by stellar breath control, but also has the musical talent to use dynamics, feeling
& style, all powered by his spiritual connection with the Lord, which flows
through his vocal expressions. This gift of expressing his heart-felt faith and
love of the Lord through his songs give them a special spiritual quality which
is a glorious blessing to the listener, on top of everything else this album brings
to the listening experience.
Let's

IMMEASURABLE - Being thankful for a faithful, loving Lord
and all the blessings He has given us, and the eternal hope we have in the Lord
Jesus. "Immeasurable, incredible / is Your love to me / Embraceable,
irreplaceable / in word, in hope, in deed / Unbelievable, inconceivable / When

You. //"

Lord Almighty / Great Redeemer, Lord my God / You are holy, Lord Almighty / May
Your glory be proclaimed.//"
CRUCIFIED - Our hope in Jesus: Explores the pain
of the Father who loved us so much that he gave his only son, Jesus to be our
sin offering. Jesus willingly gave his life for us. "Oh the pain He must
have bore / As He watched His Son / he could take no more / The world was crying
/ So left His Son on the cross dying / He
gave His love so we would live / Who gave His life to forgive / He
has come to make all things new / His love could do no less for you. //"
Our
Need to Depend on the Lord to help us follow Him

His will for our life. "If I'm being faithful / there will never be any
limits / Cause if You're in it / all things are possible.//"

is impossible / Through You / I can do all the things that You ask of me / All
things are made possible / through You.//"

/ We are sinful and headed for troubled times / We are chasing the wind for peace
of mind.//"

are needed / Like a flower needs the rain / You are needed / So the sun will remain
/ You are needed / In a dry and weary land / And we need You more and more / You
are needed.//"
EACH DAY OF
MY LIFE - Depending on the Lord on our daily walk with Him - "I need someone, someone to save my soul / Then I heard
Your voice say / Take up your cross / Leave everything and follow me / and I'll
show you the way / And in Your love I found my place / so Father lead me on.//"
Chorus: "I'm gonna walk with
You each day of my life / Each day of my life / I'm gonna talk with You each day
of my life / Each day of my life / I'm gonna love You each day of my life.//"
Show our faith and love
of the Lord through our words and actions....
GLORIFIED
- Glorifying Jesus in all we say and do, depending on the Lord
for help. "Let every single
word off my tongue / Always be spoken in the spirit of love / Keep my eyes focused
on that cross upon a hill / And my heart always listening to Your will / I wanna
be so obsessed, oh with righteousness." / "In
word and in deed / All that anyone can see / Is a disciple of a Father up above
/ Twenty-four hours a day.//"
GOTTA
FORGIVE THEM - Forgiving those people
in our lives who hurt us - Letting it all go is possible if one depends on the
Lord. "Gotta forgive them for they
know what not they do / I was forgiven and I forgive you too / Gotta forgive them
/No one taught them how to love / Seventy times seven / That's a whole lot of
love / Forgive to be forgiven / A whole lot of love.//"
The

IT'S
GONNA TAKE TIME - Our Lord is trustworthy and dependable, a
source of strength and comfort when bumps appear on our road of life. Song explores
losing a job, pain from broken relationship, and hurt caused by outside forces. "It's gonna take time enough to heal /
Doesn't matter when you wanna to feel / Time enough for change / Nothing will
ever stay the same ever / Time to be complete / It's gonna take time for what
you need / Gotta remember it's not the end of the world / It's gonna take time
// I know what I'm gonna do / I'm gonna depend on You / They say good things come
to those who wait.// "
ANYMORE - A song which offers comfort in the face painful
failures. "Shattered dreams / Was it such a sin to reach for the sky?/
At least once in your life / Fading hope / Is sometimes what it takes / To drive
a man to reach toe other side of strife //Before the world began /
God prepared a place for me / Far beyond what you and I can see / Cast
all your cares and your worries / to the one who knows all the ways of your heart.
//"
WHO CRIES - The Lord's love endures forever for all who call on His name
and will see us through disasters, tragedies, losses, and storms in our lives. "They did not know / As they
went to work / The terror they would face that day / The death and the pain /
The needless hate / The despair that came their way."//
Chorus
2: "Who cries / Tears flowing like a river / They cry / But His love endures
forever / He cried / For all who call His name / He died.//"
Let's
talk about the Musical Compositions -
Many
people contributed their gifts, musical inspiration and drive to the musical elements
which all come together to create such wonderful compositions. Wayburn
Dean's expressive, versatile, uplifting vocals are well supported by the well-played
accompaniment and by the well-done backup harmonies.
Nirva

Duncan
Mullins - Bass in GLORIFIED and NEEDED
Jim
Frazier - String arrangements and programming in IMMEASURABLE and CRUCIFIED
Byron

The
recordings, mixing, and production of these songs are skillfully and thoughtfully
done, showcasing the high qualities of the performances of all concerned.
David
Zaffiro - Mixed the songs at The Puget Sound - Franklin TN.
Executive
Producer: Kerry L. Dierking - Important job of overseeing the project.
Producer
Doug Beiden- Programming, co-wrote 7 songs, recorded
songs at his db Studio in Franklin TN.
Under
his Special Thanks section on his CD insert, Wayburn Dean said, speaking to Doug
Beiden, "What can I say? You have done so much more than produce this album.
What a gift! What a heart!"
It is rare to find an album like this where all the melodies are so irresistible
and memorable, which grab the heart and inner being, perfectly working together
with the strength and mood of the vocals! Using a blend of genres and in a variety
of tempos, creating something for everyone, for any mood felt, sure to bring around
a more positive attitude, as we remember who loves us and is our hope - Jesus.
The music in these compositions blends Gospel with rock, acoustic, inspirational,
hip hop, contemporary praise and worship and urban contemporary, coming together
in just the right combinations, perfect for each song and its vocals so well performed
by Wayburn Dean.
* = Exceptionally
effective songs which sent this reviewer over the moon and back!
Anthems -
* GOTTA FORGIVE THEM - Composed
in a minor key, Strong, majestic piano and guitar intro immediately established
the mood, flowing style and easy dotted note rhythm of this inspiring, stately
anthem. Dynamically performed, stirring melody is supported by
lovely piano and acoustic guitars, touches of electric, with some nice counter
melodies as well from keys and B3 or programming which adds fullness but never
overwhelms the accompaniment.
*
CRUCIFIED - Another poignant, soul-stirring, dynamic worship anthem
which touches the heart and chokes up the sensitive heart. Written in a minor
key, powered by well done piano work, with strings and great delicate voices offered
by guitar in poignant moments. Beautifully mixed and produced! Wayburn puts his
heart and soul in the vocals. Chorus is powerfully voiced by lead vocals, backup
choral voices, and building accompaniment surely puts a spirit of praise and thankfulness!
*
ANYMORE - Flowing, memorable, sparkling melody begins strongly
with B3 and programming, quiets down to flowing chords which supports the uplifting,
comforting vocal performance of Wayburn, who has no trouble going down to the
lower notes as well as the higher ones, with smooth breath control and with feelings.
Nice soft touches of a soulful electric guitar. Chorus offers a full choral sound
as to good effect.. Perfect song to lift one up when discouraged!
THROUGH
YOU - Urban Hip hop, Gospel, and contemporary Christian surely makes
an interesting composition, which also has key modulations. Again a nice change
in mood in the Tag; transforming into a smoother melody. Melody is carried by
vocals, with programming and keys providing characteristic hip hop beat and nice
little counter rhythms and counter melody. Enjoyable backup vocals add fullness
to the sound.
Ballads -
* WHO CRIES - Beautiful,
poignant, harmonious melody supported by flowing piano and B3 chordal & counter
melody support. Inspirational, well done vocals and choral backup is arranged
perfectly. Dynamics are stellar as usual! Wayburn shows his vocal range and his
considerable breath control, as he puts these talents to good use, as he vocalizes
the stories of three tragedies and the Hope we have to rely on during the dark
times of our lives.
IT'S
GONNA TAKE TIME - Catchy, irresistible melody supported by a tight
ensemble of sharp, exact rhythmic acoustic guitar work, B3 and programming, providing
the driving accompaniment for this rhythmically, lively modern ballad, with string
accents in the chorus. Catchy melody is carried by wonderful Wayburn with his
uplifting, encouraging lead vocals and full harmony backup vocals. Dynamics are
once again right on the mark. Nice buildup of sound through bridge into the chorus.
EACH
DAY OF MY LIFE - Acoustic-based, lively contemporary Christian
pop / inspirational, supported by some fine melody / intricate counter melody
voices courtesy of Byron Hagan on the B3, a spirited guitar ensemble and again
some fine programming. Wayburn again provides the expressive, hopeful vocals which
so wonderfully express the faith and hope we have in the Lord. Great dynamics
and backup vocals.
Praise
Worship and Thanksgiving -
GLORIFIED
- One of those songs which get the listener dancing around the
room in thanksgiving. Wonderful blend of rock, soul, Gospel
and peppy hip hop beat, which cooks along with energy and enthusiasm, dotted note
melody being propelled by a tight musical ensemble made up of hot bass, slide
electric guitar (which has a nice soulful riff in interlude), sythns and easy,
snappy drums which offers full support to rhythm and counter melody.
*
IMMEASURABLE - Powerful blend of piano, guitar, strings, and programming,
beginning softly and builds, bringing the flowing melody roaringly to life, without
overpowering the wonderful vocals or delicate inner voices. Dynamics and inspiring
lead vocals & harmonious backup vocal ensemble builds in intensity and intricacy.
Wayburn's love for the Lord flows throughout his performance. Love the VAMP.
*
* YOU ARE HOLY - Has a poignant, powerful spirit of worship and
thanksgiving which flows through the dynamic melody and chorus, which chokes this
reviewer up every time. Begins in a minor key and modulates into a major key for
the verses, then modulates back to minor key, to great emotional effect. Wayburn
Dean really out does himself vocally and is supported with great background vocals.
Lovely beginning with strings and acoustic guitars, which shine throughout, offering
both melody support and counter melodies.
NEEDED
- Gospel and rock come together to create a dynamic composition
which would fit into any contemporary service in any denomination or denominational
service! Get your dancing shoes ready! Catches the spirit of roof-raising Gospel
and the energy of rock from the very beginning intro, which builds dynamically
to a glorious finish! Guitarists David Cleveland and Duncan Mullins shine forth, as they know
how to rock and COOK as well! B3 adds a supportive chordal influence of melody
throughout verses and chorus, shining in the Tag. Great buildup and softening
of dynamics in TAG fitting for a prayer. Vocals and choral backup are again right
on the money!
These
inspirational songs reach out way beyond the Gospel music lovers' audience, and
appeal to a wide range of listeners who seek inspirational music paired with lyrical
messages which truly refresh one's spirit to take on life in faith, relying on
the Lord, drawing them closer to the hope of the world, Jesus Christ.
MORE
ABOUT WAYBURN DEAN AND HIS LIFE OF SERVICE
On
a page on his website, Wayburn
Dean shares his thoughts and meditations from his personal prayer and devotional
time with the Lord. He shares a very important question one can ask oneself, in
the process of self-evaluation, concerning how to grow in one's Christian walk
with the Lord.
"What
are you sacrificing for God? When we think of our own sacrifice, is it really
sacrifice to make time for God, or to visit the shut in, pray or turn the television
off to worship the creator? Now, compare those almost laughable sacrifices to
what Jesus did for us on the cross. God gave His Son, His Son gave His life, Paul
was put in prison, Steven was stoned, and there are many Christians in other parts
of the world who place their lives in jeopardy on a daily basis to worship God.
These are real sacrifices."
"The
Bible says in Romans 5:8, 'But God demonstrates His own love for us in this, while
we were still sinners, Christ died for us'. When I look at my life, and when I
ask myself, what is my sacrifice to God, quite honestly, the answers that I come
up with are lacking. I believe God is calling all of to a greater sense of self-denial
for His purpose."
"Today,
take an introspective look and ask yourself, is God pleased with me in this regard.
I feel sure you will find something that can be improved upon."
Throughout
his life, Wayburn Dean has served the Lord, and continues to grow spiritually
as a faithful servant of Jesus Christ.
Wayburn and Janae Dean ... Son Brent
and Wayburn singing together
*
Wayburn Dean wasn't expected to live when he was born, and was sent home to die
with his mom to her little cottage in New Mexico.
His
mom, a devout Christian, prayed most earnestly for his life, holding him up, promising
to give Wayburn back to the Lord. The Lord heard her prayer, and Wayburn's family
was thankful and determined to raise Wayburn to love God.
On
the CD cover, Wayburn appreciates his parents' love and thanks his mom and dad.
"Mom,
thank you for your prayer for my life and you incredible love and devotion to
our Savior."
"Dad, thanks
for all the love and support you've shown me over the years. I love you both tremendously."
*
Wayburn Dean miraculously
beat the odds and lived to grow up in Hobbs, New Mexico.
He
was blessed to grow up in a Christian family, with a mom and dad and was taught
Christian principles from the beginning.
He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior at age 13.
His
singing talents appeared very early in his life. At the age of 7, Wayburn performed
in his church choir ensemble which traveled throughout the southwest states, singing
for the Lord.
*
Wayburn Dean is a former member of the group Acappella (1988 till 1994).
Wayburn
began his professional singing career with the mainstream, successful group, Acappella, which brought much success. Wayburn was recognized as being a gifted talent as
Acappella's lead vocalist on several songs, receiving Dove and Grammy nods for
the song "Rescue," AND “We Have Seen The Glory.”
He was given the Lifetime Achievement Award by
the CAMA (Christian Acappella Music Association).
*
By 1994, Wayburn Dean felt the need / pull to go in another direction.
Being
in a front and center popular musical group in the mainstream music industry requires
a lot of time touring and recording, making it hard to have the time needed for
marriage, family, and a personal music ministry. Wayburn Dean came to the same
conclusion that many artists evolve to discover, and decided to take some time
off, and refocus on what was important; His marriage, his family, and a personal
ministry for the Lord.
Wayburn and
his wife, Janae became involved with important Christian philanthropic organizations
and in worthwhile causes. Wayburn and his wife formed a non-profit organization
called Afterward Music, a non-profit organization helping missionaries.
Children's
home - Kingston, Jamaica - Supported by missionary group, "As Christ Ministries," an organization supported by Wayburn and Janae Dean.
Wayburn
and Janae with Franklin Graham at CBA, Anaheim California.
His
solo career in his music ministry had its beginning in 2001.
Not
only is Wayburn Dean blessed with a marvelous voice, but he also has a gift for
composing melodies, and for arranging songs, which sooner or later had to come out to be shared with the world.
*
Wayburn's arrangement of "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" was featured in the movie "The
Fighting Temptations" starring Oscar-winner Cuba Gooding, Jr.
* Wayburn Dean discovered that his wife Janae, was / is his
most important songwriting lyricist, his partner in mission, besides being the
mother of their 6 children.
"Janae
is great at putting life’s experiences into lyrics and I’m good at finding the
melody, so we compliment each other Where
ever I travel, I take her with me because she can minister to people – especially
to women – that maybe I can’t do. She plays a crucial role in my life and in this
ministry."
Wayburn
and Janae Dean with Chris Rice
Wayburn
and Janae formed their own record label, WayJade
Music, releasing three solo albums: AS LONG AS I LIVE * PEACE
CHILD * IMMEASURABLE, which was produced
by Doug Beiden.
"Each
Day of My Life," the debut single from Immeasurable, climbed to #2 on the Radio
& Records national Inspirational charts and #3 on national charts published by
the Christian Radio Weekly and The PD Advisor.
Wayburn
and Janae have donated thousands
of cds to missionaries and churches in Vietnam, India, Jamaica, Brazil, New Zealand,
and other countries. Wayburn sees this as a chance to offer hope to those who
may have never heard the Gospel.

thirst as the deer pants for the water / We need You first / Like the clay to
the potter / Holding on / Holding on to the victory / As we grow in love in humility
/ We realize our security.//
Chorus:
You are needed / Like a flower needs the rain / You are needed / So the sun will
remain / You are needed / In a dry and weary land / And we need You more and more
/ You are needed.// Repeat
In
every single way / You are needed.//
Tag:
Gotta depend on You / In everything I do / Please hear our cry / Help me to realize
that.//

/ Like a flower needs the rain / You are needed / So the sun will remain / You
are needed / In a dry and weary land / And we need You more and more / You are
needed.// Repeat

To send a shower of love and grace.//

Crucified / Oh the pain He must have bore / As He watched His Son / He could take
no more / Crucified / The world was crying / So left His Son on the cross dying
/ He gave His love so we would live / Who gave His
life to forgive / Crucified.//
To
see His child be born that way / The Son of God laying in the hay / One day He'd
give His life away / And as He cried the Father knew / This God man would cry
for you / And that He'd pay for all we'd do.//

References: (John 14:2-3, 1 Peter 5:7, Jer. 29:11-13)
Lyrics:
Shattered
dreams / Was it such a sin to reach for the sky?/ At least once in your life /
Fading home / Is sometimes what it takes / To drive a man to reach the other side
of strife.//
Before the world
began / God prepared a place for me / Far beyond what you and I can see / we can
see.//
Cast all your cares and
your worries / to the one who knows all the ways of your heart / Answer the wind
when she begins / You will say life don't hold me anymore.//
A
time to live / A time to celebrate / A time to sacrifice / For the things not
yet seen / Imagine a world / where there's no more fear / And no more babies crying
/ Where only their dreams will come true.//
Bridge
2: Before the world began / God foresaw a dream for me and you / Far beyond anything
we can do.//
Chorus: Cast all
your cares and your worries / to the one who knows all the ways of your heart
/ Answer the wind when she begins / You will say life can't hold me anymore.//
