WORSHIP

"Worship is an act of obedience of the heart. it is a response that requires the very core of who you are, to love the Lord for who He is,not just for what He does. Worship is more than singing beautiful songs in church on a Sunday. It is more than instruments and music. As a true worshiper, your heart will long to worship Him at all times, in all ways and with all your life. You don’t have to be the greatest singer or musician to be a great worshiper. Whether you are in the body or as an individual, open your heart and adore the Lord from the very core of your being. That’s all that He’s asking."

Welcome. My name is Michael Bahn, Worship Pastor here at River Valley Community Church. Thank you for your interest in the worship/media ministry here at RVCC. Our philosophy of worship is simple; God must become greater and we must become less. (John 3:30) Our times of worship together are for God’s glory, not our own. At RVCC we want God to be the focus of our worship. We want to sincerely seek and praise the Lord.

As we do this we must keep some things in mind:

* In worship, God is concerned with the heart attitude (1 Samuel 16:7).
* Musical instruments are inclusive, not exclusive (Psalm 150).
* Our worship focus is not to be distracted by personal likes or dislikes.
* We make a practice of learning and singing new songs (Psalm 33:3).
* We make a practice of singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs(Ephesians 5:19-20).

As the Bible does not specify a preferred style of worship, our goal is to worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24) expressed in a culturally relevant manner whether that be singing hymns or choruses, using piano or guitar, playing trumpets or drums. And we acknowledge that none of it glorifies God unless our hearts are right before Him!
