RE:ZOUND ... "RE:WORSHIP" CD Review

Mission Statement: "RE:WORSHIP is not just the name of an album. It is RE:Evaluation of our worship of God. It is about RE:Connecting with God in a very personal way. It is all about RE:Newing the heart. RE:Worship is about RE:Turning to the architectural plans for worship that God RE:Vealed in His Word."

Their mission goal in creating the songs on this CD is to offer people opportunities through the praise and worship music experience to "acclaim the Lord in everything they do" daily, inspite of what is happening in their lives by singing about God's goodness to themselves and others, which has the effect of lifting people's spirits as they inadvertently, give their worries and trouble to the Lord through their worship experience.

"To experience God's presence, tell everyone how good God is, then tell yourself."

About RE:ZOUND -

RE:ZOUND is an Arizona-based independent Christian rock band, made up of Christian young men in a music ministry for the Lord, specializing in making Praise and Worship music, which is showcased in their new CD, RE:ZOUND: RE:WORSHIP, done in their own unique style described as being "distinctively aggressive."

RE:ZOUND is blessed with having three song writers, a main vocalist, a fantastic drummer, not to mention a talented ensemble of guitarists and a solid key board / piano man, who all meld their talents, skills and collective spiritual passion for the Lord and funnel it all into their music, to bring the Praise and Worship music experience to their audiences and now to the listening public with the release of RE:ZOUND: RE:WORSHIP.

RE:ZOUND Band Members and Their Music

Jason Anderson; Song Writer - Lead Vocals / gifted in verbal expression! // Jeff Zubeck; (Song Writer - Electric Guitar)

Dustin Carlson - Song Writer - Acoustic / Electric Guitar.

Erik Brunner - Bass Guitar............ Terry Dillard - Drums....Mike Kaminiski - Piano / Keyboard / Effects..........

Jeff Zubeck explains more about their song writing process. His passion is in creating worship music. According to Jeff, "I try to approach writing worship music from a different angle than a lot of people. Worship music has to have a certain sing-songy appeal for congregations to enter in. But that doesn't mean it can't be edgy and experimental at the same time."

While their music "pays a passing tribute to the musical styles of Linkin Park and Creed," Jason Anderson explains how the group developed their own style of composition, not wanting to sound like other bands, but to develop a unique sound. "One of the biggest keys in creating our own sound was detuning the guitars. That really helped us create chords and music that when you listen to it, it doesn't sound like anything else."

Most importantly, RE:ZOUND'S Praise and Worship music is a direct result of the band's growing spirituality and walk with the Lord. As with many who were called into a Christian music ministry, they have been empowered by the Lord with a passion to do so.

RE:ZOUND first became a group while attending the same church in Mesa, Arizona, the Living Word Bible Church, which is the church home to more than 5,000 people, and a source of strong emotional, spiritual encouragement and support of their music ministry, which they have received from their church family and community. As they grew and transformed as a band, they not only led church worship services, but also started an outreach program with the help of the Living Word Bible Church where they traveled to various churches, and performed concerts with the goal of not only promoting worship of the Lord, but to help / inspire churches to start or develop their own contemporary praise and worship music program.

Besides creating a large following, resulting from their church outreach program to other churches, RE:ZOUND, while following the leadings of the Holy Spirit, found success in both the secular and Christian music scenes. Two songs from their debut CD album, RE:ZOUND * BREATHE, which came out in 2002, brought the band into the limelight of both the secular and Christian music world, which is no small feat for an "independent band."

For nearly a year, their song, ANGEL, was a number one hit on secular MTV's undiscovered band tune chart, giving them for the moment, more exposure on secular radio than Christian radio. RE:ZOUND recently found themselves with the #2 spot on Christian Beats’ National Loud Chart with their single, BREATHE, which was the title song of the same debut album, Re:ZOUND * BREATHE.

RE:ZOUND then found themselves in a more high profile Christian music ministry, being on stage during the weekends with such well-known Christian artists as Michael W. Smith, Avalon, The Newsboys and The Benjamin Gate, leading young people in worshiping of the Lord. They also were invited to play in Christian music concerts in other parts of the world, such as India, leading people in worship of the Lord.

"In February 2003, the band traveled to India for a series of crusades that saw thousands of salvations and hundreds of miraculous healings."

RE:ZOUND plans to return to India for another week of crusades in November 2004, with T.L. Osborne. To raise the $50,000 needed for this trip, the band has begun fundraising and plans to raise the money through the proceeds from CD sales, merchandise sales and live performances.

Despite their success in the mainstream Christian music realm, they still made the commitment to lead the Praise and Worship music service one weekend out of the month, at the place where their music ministry began, The Living Word Bible Church in Mesa, Arizona. This is a special place where they have found strong emotional, spiritual encouragement and support of their church family and community for their growth and music ministry.

The Band's Thoughts About Worship, and how they tie into and influence their Praise and Worship Songs

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord. —Psalms 89:15

RE:Worship - Learning to "Acclaim the Lord in everything we do is a key to having his presence in our life."

Jeff Zubeck explains more about the importance of worshiping the Lord through music, which can transform the participant, helping them to have / develop a heart attitude that is pleasing to the Lord, and ultimately brings inner joy, peace and a calmness to face whatever is in our lives.

"We (human beings) have been given something that no other creature has been given -- the ability to sing songs of worship to our God. For He is holy! Let's purpose in our hearts to do that. For we truly were "created to worship. Thus art and song was a gift from God to us -- a gift with which we, in turn, bring joy to God through its righteous use. This is true of all gifts and talents given to us by God."

As they began working on their Praise and Worship songs for RE:ZOUND: Re: WORSHIP, they were determined to write songs based on sound, Biblical truths to give their songs integrity, and inspire them in both their song writing and performance. One source of inspiration came from King David's Psalms and his faithful, worshipful heart attitude to the Lord, despite the circumstances he found himself in, despite his emotional state, as examples of "unbridled worship before God."

For, King David's Psalms were not just composed, sung and prayed when he was happy and thankful, but also when he was anxious, frustrated, mournful, full of sorrow and even when he was in trouble with the Lord for his own misdeeds. Every human emotion is present in the Psalms, revealed in David's prayer songs of Praise and Worship to the Lord.

Jason relates what the band gleamed from King David's example, what King David set for us all in the importance of worshiping and praising the Lord in a deep and meaningful, heart-felt way.

"Many say they want to praise God, but are waiting until they feel like praising Him. Don't fall into that deception," advises Jason. "We praise God in spite of our circumstances and feelings, and in doing so, we inadvertently end up giving our circumstances and feelings to God. Be thankful to God for your deliverance and your victory before you experience it, then stand back and watch God go to work."

The Apostle Paul's Holy Spirit inspired words in Ephesians also inspired RE:ZOUND.

Ephesians 5:18-20 - Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19: Speak to one another with Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20: always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

An excerpt from the soon to be published RE:WORSHIP BOOK explains what it was about this scripture which spoke to the band and strongly influenced their music, which explains their unique musical style of Praise and Worship, and why it has such a positive effect on the spiritual state of the listener.

Through the praise and worship music experience, "we enter into the passionate presence of God, (often referred to as being "drunk in the Spirit") you forget your problems, and you become more like Christ. When you emerge from those encounters with god, you find that the Holy Spirit has breathed life into the seeds and promises of God, impregnating you with God's solutions, and you end up more Christ like."

This verse implies that human beings should replace the false high of alcohol and other things we do to make ourselves feel better and forget our troubles with the real thing, the Spirit of God which we can receive through our praise and worship of our Lord through music. "To experience God's presence, tell everyone how good God is, then tell yourself."

About their new CD, RE:ZOUND / RE:WORSHIP

Their newest CD release of their high-energy love letters to the Lord, RE:ZOUND / RE:WORSHIP, is an emotional, passionate, uninhibited, and inspiring effort which encourages the listeners to rise above everyday concerns and worries and other negative influences in their lives by remembering what a compassionate, loving Lord we have, what He has done for us and continues to do and thank and worship Him through the Praise and Worship music experience, which focuses the attention off oneself and onto the Lord.

This reviewer found that this CD is a great collection of Praise and Worship songs that truly encourage people to not only worship the Lord, but to also reevaluate - improve the quality of worship of the Lord, to reconnect with the Lord in a personal way, and to renew the correct heart attitude which pleases the Lord, our loving Father, which was what the mission statement stated as a goal for this CD.

Under the influence of the band's own unique "distinctively aggressive" way of creating music, this CD offers a variety of energetic, dynamic Christian rock, a nice diversity in well-done vocal styles, some moving acoustical worship songs, all skillfully composed, resulting in well-put together combinations of interesting melodies / counter melodies in a variety of musical styles, which complements nicely the heart-felt, Biblically -inspired lyrics. The finished songs of praise and worship take the listener to a higher level of being, connecting one with the Holy Spirit, leaving one in a peaceful, better state of mind, with a more positive spiritual heart attitude and feeling closer to God, than before the listening experience.

Their music reminds the listener through the lyrics what hope we have in the Lord's promises, His character, his unfailing love for us; all themes that are perfect for group or individual worship praise music that takes the focus off self and place the focus squarely on the Lord, which lifts the spirit, lightens everyday burdens, strengthens our resolve to follow Him and helps make a connection to the Lord. I highly recommend RE:WORSHIP as a CD that will prepare you spiritually for your day, relief you of stress at night, help you develop a heart attitude that will draw you closer to the Lord and a great CD for the car, making it an important addition for your collection.
