The daughter of the late Rev. Joseph Price and Evangelist Claudia Price, Kelly is the 2nd of three children born and raised in Queens, New York. Kelly's musical talents became evident at an early age. As a young child Kelly knew that music was more than just something that happened on the radio - it was a necessity for life. She used music as an outlet to express her feelings even when she couldn't speak about it. At the age of 7 years old, Kelly wrote her first song, expressing her deep sadness that she felt after reading a book for a black history project in school.

Kelly made her first recording before the age of 10 and by the age of 18, she was recording and touring the world with multi-platinum pop diva Mariah Carey. She also has sung background vocals for Faith Evans, Aretha Franklin, Brian McKnight and SWV. Throughout her career, Kelly has sung for, recorded with, toured with, written songs for, and arranged and produced music for artists including: Mary J Blige, P. Diddy, Brandy, Donnie McClurkin, The Williams Brothers, Yolanda Adams, Whitney Houston, Mary Mary, The Notorious B.I.G, Richard Smallwood, R. Kelly, Eric Clapton, Wynona Judd, and the legendary Ronald Isley.

Ronald Isley sponsored Kelly's first album, SOUL OF A WOMAN, in 1997 on Island Records. Kelly is credited with helping to "usher in the rebirth of the Gospel sound in mainstream and R&B music." One of her own songs that she wrote on this album, FRIEND OF MINE, was extremely popular, and went to the top of the charts twice.

Kelly Price recorded her first live gospel album, THIS IS WHO I AM, in October of 2005, and  was released in October 2006 on her own label, EcclectiSounds Records, becoming an i ndie artist, with full creative license.  Kelly explains, "I am a Church kid. I was raised on gospel music and both my parents were preachers. I see this album as an expansion of my God-given talents and I hope my fans will treasure these very special songs."

It became the  #1 album on the Billboard Gospel Charts and peaked at #9 on the R&B/Hip Hop album chart.  This album was nominated for a 2007 Dove Award - Urban Album of the Year!  Notable songs from this album are HEALING, THE LOVE MEDLEY, NOBODY BUT JESUS, WHAT A FRIEND, and GOD IS FAITHFUL.

Kelly Price

Kelly Price currently lives in Queens with her husband, and has a music studio there, the heart center of EcclectiSounds Records,  where they produce albums for others, while working on her own projects.  The good news is that Kelly and a Kingston Jamaican group, TOK, have collaborated together and are making a new album, which may come out this year, 2009, or 2010.  ChristianMusic.com eagerly awaits this new album from a very talented and blessed performer, songwriter and producer.

Besides being gifted with a wonderful voice and musical ability to write and produce songs, Kelly also has written books and designed her own fashion-line of clothes for women blessed with fuller figures.  INSCRIPTIONS FROM MY HEART is her newest book, that covers Kelly's thoughts on prayer, faith and praise; three elements vital for a person's walk with the Lord.
