Review - Jars of Clay (Jars of Clay)
The opening haunting chants set to acoustic guitars in
Liquid is the only the first delight in this debut album
from one of the most original artists in the Christian
music industry. If you've never heard of Jars of Clay,
you've been really out of touch.
Striking acoustic melodies with light percussion make
for 11 excellent tracks. Love Song for a Savior focuses
the album straight away: 'Someday He'll call us and we
will come running / and fall in His arms and the tears
will fall down and we'll pray / I want to fall in love
with You'. Other highlights on this album are the mournful
He (which speaks to child abuse), the secular radio hit
Flood (produced by Belew), and Worlds Apart (which speaks
of giving up everything, taking our world apart for Jesus).
Voted #9 in the top 100 Christian albums of all time
in a 1998 issue of CCM, Jars of Clay's first studio album
remains their best. Review by: GospelSite.net
