Review - A Different Man (Clay Crosse)
A long three years after 'Stained Glass', Clay Crosse
is back. His new album comes after an intense period of
struggling with moral, spiritual, and vocal problems,
but Clay has emerged from his struggles 'A Different Man'.
This new album reflects the powerful vibes of 'Stained
Glass' but also conveys the feeling of a life reshaped
by the grace of God.
Clay experiments with some new sounds on this album.
The pop-chorus of 'No Fear' rocks the album from the start:
'I have no fear / Because I know / That my God rules /
He's in control / Forever, forever, forever, forever'.
Then there's a rap but it's hard to understand. The closing
of the song sounds a bit like dc Talk.
As well as the more upbeat songs, there are softer songs
too. The most beautiful song on this album that could
make you cry is 'Arms of Jesus'. It's a heartfelt cry
for Jesus, and a realization that God always forgives:
'But when I fall... / Let me fall / Into the arms of Jesus
/ Let me come into His kingdom / And kneel at His cross'.
Throughout this album there's a lot of good songs. Clay's
comments are included in the lyric booklet that show a
man changed for God's purpose. The songs of 'Stained Glass'
enveloped the listener and moved them with spine-tingling
music and lyrics, and Clay's new songs do the same, but
they are more passionate and powerful than ever before.
