As with many professionals in the Christian music field, Adam
Cunningham faced his own faith struggles, Adam drifted away from
God, and really didn't find his way back into His arms until he
was struck with his own family situation, where he needed the
help of the Holy Spirit.
Adam Cunningham shared his personal testimony with
ChristianMusic.com. "I would like to say that no matter where
you are in life, God will make Himself real to you. During my
high school years I had drifted away from God, but through my
second son's birth I saw that God was truly in control. I gave
up the control I thought that I had and gave Him the reigns to
my life."
ChristianMusic.com also asked Adam what was his
overall mission and goal for himself and his music. Adam said
"The general mission of my music, and me for that matter is to
be real. It is very plain, very simple, and maybe even boring.
I have been around many "Sunday morning Christians" and I wasn't
satisfied. I heard how God was so awesome and that he had changed
them, but their lives told a very different story. I knew that
if I was going to give my life to God that there weren't going
to be any masks or superficialities. Am I perfect? Not by far.
That's the thing though. I want people to know through my music
and life that God loves them anyway. When we mess up He is still
right there calling us His own."
ChristianMusic.com asked Adam, "How were you led
by the Lord to use your musical gifts to write and sing songs?"
And we just loved his reply! Keep in mind Adam was a class clown
of sorts.

Flashing back to his football days, Adam said "
I was good at two things: football and music. You can obviously
see how my football career is going. Seriously, the way that I
write songs is just another extension of who I am. I try to write
real songs about real life and how God is really real! Catch the
theme? I don't have flowery words or degrees on a wall, but what
I do have to offer is my life. Some of the songs I write are very
meaningful while others are fun. I tend to think that God likes
to laugh have fun and enjoy His creation. Why can't we?" |
Because of the changing nature of the creative process,
Adam will never work the same way twice when it comes to sitting
down and pulling his music together. Most of his songs are either
composed either on a piano or a guitar. Sometimes its the music
that puts the words on the paper. Sometimes it's a word or a phrase
that brings it all together. One thing that ChristianMusic.com
knows is that Adam Cunningham has really just started, and that
we look forward to hearing this talented artist bloom and evolve
in his music ministry.
Adam is a multi talented artist who sings with a
passion for God, composes, plays the piano and guitar. It was
no surprise then that he received a Dove Award nomination for
his album "The Word Alive." Also, Cunningham was the leader of
the worship team, who created the album "His Renown;" an album
that won the Dove Award in 2006.

Having a true sound of his own, Adam Cunningham
composes in the rock and country music genres. Cunningham really
can connect with his listeners. Growing up, Adam listened to a
variety of artists, which would explain how he can cross the line
between rock and country. Some the singers and groups that Cunningham
listened to over the years include Ricky Skaggs, Willie Nelson,
DC Talk, Petra, Bon Jovi, Bob Schneider, and Bryan Adams, just
to name a few.
Making his long awaited album debut, Adam will be
releasing his self titled album "Adam Cunninham" in March, 2007.
This will be his first release with Track Star Recordworks. Showing
that he can rock and write, Adam put himself on the line musically
with this CD, as all the cuts on this album he wrote himself.
Soon after his son was healed, he began to write songs inspired
by his new faith and his son's recovery. One really gets a feeling
for his music as he sings about his real life experiences with
his straight-up rock and a touch of country, blended in the compositions.

Adam Cunningham also serves the Lord by being a
worship music leader, which he has done for a time. As a young
adult, Adam Cunningham began serving in churches and has continued
on for several years. He started leading worship at his church
in Mocksville, North Carolina. Later he became the worship leader
at the Calvary Baptist Church near Winston-Salem. Now "The Loop"
is where you can hear Adam's ministry. The Loop is located in
Nashville Tennessee, this group delivers a powerful message with
great music and ministry.
ChristianMusic.com asked Adam how he prepares himself
to serve God... Adam replied "How does anyone prepare for serving
Christ? I wish I could say that there is a magic formula or some
mathematical equation one could use to get ready, but there isn't.
Trial by fire is the only way I would know how to describe it."
Together with his wife Amanda, they work side by
side as a family on a mission to serve God. Adam has credited
her as being a spiritual contributor to him personally, because
she gives him the extra push and drive to challenge himself. Adam
stated in our interview, "She makes me a better man." What a great
witness to how the Lord puts people in our lives to help us grow
in the Spirit!
